Potential New Vehicles from 597x397 Insider Info: Mercedes Benz Survey asks which of these models do you want in the U.S.?

Concerned loyalists of Mercedes-Benz, kindly be aware of a survey Mercedes-Benz has conducted in its efforts to involve a certain group of individuals in its business plans. The survey, as seen in the photo above, asks several questions on models which the company considers for entry into the U.S. market. Our Insider was not only kind enough to send us a picture of the survey that was handed out but also some information about the mentioned models and their release dates.

The models involved in the survey are the following:

  • The CLC-Class 4-door Coupe
  • The GLK, whose next generation is pegged for 2013, will increase its physical dimensions apart from receiving a 300-horsepower 4-cylinder engine. A diesel variant of the E250 BlueTEC which, according to Mercedes-Benz, boasts a 40 miles-per-gallon fuel economy rating.
  • The 2014 GLC (pegged as the mini GLK) will somewhat be smaller, shorter and lower than the GLK variant. Its rumoured powerplant is a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that’ll churn around 210 horsepower through its 4-Matic all-wheel drive system.
  • Last but never the least, the next generation A-Class and B-Class models set for U.S. shores in 2014.

So folks, if you want these models to ever make it into U.S. shores (we’re sure you do), then you might want to hope that those individuals that filled out that survey have the same opinion/intentions as you guys. If you also want to help out the Mercedes-Benz officials, then you are more than welcome to state your opinion and let them know what your stand is on bringing these future Mercedes-Benz models to the U.S. Market.

On Thursday, Mercedes officials confirmed the presence of the 2012 E63 AMG wagon in the North American lineup. Coming in October, AMG’s version of this people and grocery-getter will get a biturbo 5.5-liter V8 that features direct injection with 518 horsepower and practically the same amount of torque. If that kind of output is too weak for a prospective customer, Mercedes dealers will happily provide a higher-performance package that will provide 550 horsepower and almost 600 lb-ft. of torque.

As with the E-Class sedan, the AMG wagon will have efficiency-improving start-stop technology in conjunction with a 7-speed transmission. 19-inch wheels are standard, but only the wagon will have a panoramic roof as standard.
The decision to reinstate the wagon in the North American lineup is likely due to the fact that Mercedes wagons engender a lot of loyalty from its owners, who are among the wealthier customers in the Mercedes demographic.

E-Class Cabriolet gets ‘wow’ factor from Carlsson

Being emotionally charged as it is, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class still has a lot of room for improvements in terms of aesthetics. This applies especially to the Cabriolet which women just can’t help loving. That’s part of the reason why Carlsson decided to come up with a tuning kit for the Cabrio to make it not only faster, but more appealing to the eyes.

Carlsonn’s aerodynamic kit plus interior upgrades makes the Cabrio stand out from any angle. Couple it with a 20-percent bump in power and you’ll experience a whole new meaning to the term “topless pleasure”. Extra power comes from the ECU C-Tronic DIESEL POWER upgrade kit that is basically a plug-and-play panacea for E-Class owners wanting a little more fun out of their convertible.

From its base 231hp rating, power gets boosted upto 280hp. Torque meanwhile gets bumped up from 540Nm to 648Nm. The ladies best be careful about lead-footing the throttle on this thing because it might embarrass a lot of other guys on the road trying to outdo the souped up Cabrio.

The price tag on the ECU costs around 1,784 euro while for a little more, you’ll get sports end mufflers plus twin double-walled stainless steel tubes for a grand total of 2,319 euro. Not bad if you’re looking for the perfect reason to mess around with your Cabrio. Check out the gallery, ladies and gents.

Updated E-Class Models Feature New Engines With Direct Injection

Mercedes is announcing new powerplants in 2012 for its E-Class models, and the top-of-the-line mill gives AMG-like performance to Mercedes’ mid-range offerings. Starting with the E350, the German automaker will provide a 3500cc direct-injection V6, which is currently found in the C350 sedan and the SLK350 roadster. This powerplant has an output of 302 horsepower with a corresponding 273 pound-feet of torque. As part of its mandate to meet more stringent fuel economy and emissions standards, a 7-speed automatic transmission is expected to complete the drivetrain.

If a 300-horsepower car isn’t enough, customers can order the E-Class with a direct-injection V8 biturbo, displacing 4.6 liters and producing a little over 400 horsepower with 440 pounds-feet of torque. This is more than enough horsepower for a daily driver and should provide some momentary distractions at stoplight grands prix on the way to work.

The E 63 AMG is now even more powerful and efficient. As part of the “AMG Performance 2015″ model strategy, the high-performance vehicle now benefits from the new 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine. This unit, already familiar from the CLS 63 AMG, delivers an output of 386 kW (525 hp) to 410 kW (557 hp), together with an impressive reduction in fuel consumption: the E 63 AMG consumes 9.8 litres per 100 kilometres (Estate 10.0 litres) according to NEDC combined, in other words 22 percent less than its predecessor with the AMG 6.3-litre V8 naturally aspirated engine. An important contribution is also made here by the newly developed electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive sports steering system, which only draws power when the vehicle is actually being steered. Additional assistance systems now raise occupant safety to a whole new level.
