The 22nd Goodwood Festival of Speed, set to take place June 26-29 in West Sussex, England recently announced that the Central Feature of the 2014 Festival will pay tribute to 120 years of achievement in motor sports by Mercedes-Benz.   Every year the lawn at Goodwood House, the site of the Festival of Speed, is consumed by an automotive-themed sculpture for the duration of the Festival. Past sculptures have celebrated other manufacturers and historic automotive events, and Mercedes Benz was selected as the 2014 honoree in conjunction with the Festival’s theme of Addicted to Winning.   Charles Gordon-Lennox, the Earl of March and Kinrara and manager of Goodwood estate, had… Continue Reading »

5 Smart Missed Opportunities

Smart has become a brand name synonymous with stylish compact city cars. An alliance was formed back in 1994 by watch manufacturer, Swatch, and Daimler-Benz AG to undertake the new project. Interest in the brand grew immediately following the first model’s release in 1998. Come launch, city commuters could buy a compact city car which wasn’t only attractive but incredibly practical around town. Drivers could even park perpendicularly in an otherwise parallel-parked street. The brand experienced some attempted expansion in its short history, which almost always failed. However, the future launch of the Renault Twingo-based Smart ForFour spells an opportunity to pick up where it left off with the former… Continue Reading »

Maintaining your new Mercedes-Benz

If your Mercedes-Benz is more than one year old, you will benefit from having a periodic under-the-hood check to ensure that the car is properly prepared for the road. Preventive maintenance can resolve many issues that may arise with a vehicle at the lowest possible costs. Checking for small problems rather than waiting until the vehicle begins to show noticeable signs of deterioration can deter major car problems that could occur at a later date. The best way to incorporate preventive auto care maintenance is to regularly allow a certified mechanic to perform routine oil checks and regular inspections. In addition to changing the oil in the car and checking… Continue Reading »

2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Review

Withdraw £168,250 from your bank account and immediately sprint straight to your nearest Mercedes showroom – because the German motoring giant has created a lustrous monster you won’t mind throwing obscene amounts of cash at. Say hello to the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG. Boasting a colossal 6.0-litre V12 and producing a riotous 630bhp, Mercedes’ latest SL model is a slimmed down version of the SL63, but its weight reduction has done nothing to weaken the brawn beneath its bonnet. In a world where muscular motors have ostensibly given way to geeky green golf buggies, it would take an ultra-deluxe and sexy monster to persuade most of us, not to mention devoted… Continue Reading »

Is having three children any different to having two?

Apart from the obvious need for a bit more time and perhaps another pair of hands, what are the main differences between having two children and having three? Space The additional space required when you have three children depends on quite a number of things. The age of your children, whether you have boys or girls and to a certain extent, their personalities, are just some of the aspects that may dictate what your family needs in the way of space. Regardless of whether you have boys, girls, or a mixture, it may be best to have them in separate bedrooms once they reach secondary school. This is not always… Continue Reading »
