Ever wanted a phone to match your ride, well here is one that will do that, sort of. A company called QKphone has created a hideous phone with a Mercedes-Benz logo on it. There is no need to debate whether this is illegal, as we all know what these Chinese companies usually do. The specs are actually pretty impressive, when comparing it to the design. It boasts two screens (kinda like the LG Voyager), a 2MP camera, 1gb memory card, most video and audio codecs and bluetooth. Check out some more specs and pictures after the break
No one can forget the Mclaren F1 considering the fact that we have reached a stage where supercar manufacturers seem to be growing in number and lighter, powerful and cooler looking ones keep popping up on every episode of top gear. You probably have to hit the jackpot twice to own a Mcl F1 and paying such amounts of money would buy you something from the mid-nineties which can compete with the supercars of today.
The Mcl F1 got old and newer and better cars were available from the houses of Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and other members of the elite supercar club. McLaren responded by making the SLR which was developed to give its customers the feel of a Formula 1 car on the road. It didn’t do as expected by McLaren and the whole project wasn’t a complete success.
Mclaren wants to get back into business and they are currently working on the P11 project which would be their third attempt at making a successful supercar. Very little is known about the P11 and the England-based firm might just bring out the stuff that could do the trick for them. Even before its complete development, the P11 has created some strong waves and dozens of orders have already been taken in the factory.
The P11 is a lightweight two-seater powered by a V8 engine. While the Mcl F1 competed with the likes of the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959, and the SLR took on the Ferrari Enzo and Carrera GT, the P11 is expected to target the likes of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and 911 GT2 when released in 2010.
CAR magazine claims its renderings are fairly close to the mark for the supercar that will be produced in annual runs of less than 5,000.
Welcome back everyone. I hope you had a fantastic holiday week. To kick things off, here is a comparison test from our favorite guys over at Top Gear. They devoted almost an entire show segment for comparing the brand new C63 AMG against the new M3 and mixing it up with the somewhat older RS4. While the last video I posted was in German, and some people were confused on who actually won, this one is in English, but you will still be confused on which cars is better. There are 3 videos, so be sure to hit more for the additional two.
Its here!! The facelifted 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLK was officially unveiled by the company today morning. The first thing you will notice is the F1 style nose which I personally think looks smashing! The rear gets a smoother look with a faux diffuser affixed between the trapezoidally shaped tailpipes.
The 2009 model also receives an all new interior which includes a superbly designed instrument panel, redesigned seats and a new three-spoke steering wheel. The SLK also gets new sporty tail-lights and headlights.
Two new engines join the 5.5L V8 of the AMG model, including a revised kompressor (supercharged) four-cylinder producing 184 hp/184 lb.-ft of torque and a new 3.5L V6 producing a whopping 305 hp/265 lb.-ft of torque. Both the engines have been designed to deliver better fuel efficiency and lesser emissions. The choice of a five-speed automatic and six-speed manual are available along with the magical 7G-TRONIC Sport seven-speed automatic gearbox. Prices announced are shown below
Mercedes-Benz tried but couldn’t succeed and as a result, they are going alone. The Benz A and B Class cars didn’t sell as much as they would have wished for and high production costs was one of the main culprits for the lack in sales. Retail prices climbed due to increased production costs and Mercedes models came at a premium over its other competitors in the small car category.
To bring down costs, Mercedes had talks with rivals BMW and Fiat for some sort of a partnership but apparently nothing worked out. So they now plan on tackling the problem all alone. Mercedes chief Dieter Zetsche proposed this new plan as a part of his company’s CORE cost-cutting strategy.
One common platform for both the A and the B Class is how they go about it. Specifications include front-wheel-drive and high-mounted transverse-sited engines. Some sources say that the next A-Class could be offered only as a three-door model, and a convertible version based on the same platform would follow. The B-Class variant, is expected to be bigger than the current model, about the size of the Volkswagen Touran minivan. Mercedes is also reportedly pondering over a new low-cost assembly plant somewhere in eastern Europe.
While Mercedes’ ultra-exclusive SLR McLaren 722 GT track car has been making rounds in the motoring press for several weeks now, a few key questions remained unanswered – including “How much?” and “Where can I get one?”
We can answer the “How much?” question rather easily (795,000 €, or about 1.2 million USD), it’s the “Where can I get one?” question that’s more interesting.
As of Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 GT will be made available to the North American market exclusively through RENNtech, the Florida-based MB tuning house owned and operated by super-tuner Hartmut Feyhl, who also lists “technical director, AMG North America” on his resume. “It’s been a very exciting project to be involved in,” explains Feyhl.
Here is a video that everyone can relate to, not just when buying a car, but when making other big-ticket decisions. This guy finally decided, after 14 years of service, to trade in his Nissan Pathfinder. Almost two months of research narrowed down his choices to the Audi A4 quattro, Mercedes-Benz C350 4MATIC and BMW 328xi Sedan. He could have just visited this site to get all the fantastic C350 reviews and comparison test and save himself some time. It is nice that he actually took all three cars for a test drive and compared them not only on the looks and specs, but the performance. Watch the video to see which car he picks.
The endless rivalry and feud between Mercedes and BMW continues, as they both are about to release one of their most anticipated and popular vehicles – the C63 AMG and M3. German TV channel, DSF, took both cars out on the road to see if Mercedes is able to beat BMW with their latest AMG version of the C-class. While Mercedes has been working endlessly on a M3 killer, BMW is not just standing around and waiting for Mercedes; their new M3 is a 66,000 Euro beast, which continues the heritage with brilliant steering and driving pleasure. It is unfortunate that the video is in German, but I am sure you’ll enjoy the cars even if you don’t understand the language. Watch the video to see the winner (Here is a hint: It’s Bavarian)

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has officially released the name of its new driver; it is no other than Heikki Kovalainen. There have been numerous rumors out there on who will replace Fernando Alonso. Adrian Sutil and Nico Rosberg had been rumored, but Heikki definitely seems like a good choice.
“We had a number of options open to us and as always we want to make sure that we have the most competitive driver line-up and I think that Lewis and Heikki will be a formidable combination,” said Martin Whitmarsh. “Both enjoyed great rookie seasons in 2007 and share a genuine passion for winning and being the best. Heikki made a strong impression and Lewis’ performance so far has been outstanding and speaks for itself. I am confident that they will push each other on track and work well together off track. In addition with Pedro remaining our primary test driver alongside Gary, we really have a strong package and look forward to 2008.”
