Russian Winter Olympics medalists get rewarded with Mercedes-Benz vehicles

The recently concluded 2014 Winter Olympics held in Sochi, Russia, saw the host country bag the overall crown on the strength of 33 medals: 13 gold medals, 11 silver, and nine bronze. Aside from getting cash, medal winners also received different Mercedes-Benz vehicles for their victories. Bronze medalists received GLK-Class units worth around $59,500, while silver medalists took home ML-Class vehicles worth around $99,500. Of course, gold medalists got the best prize: a GL-Class SUV worth upwards of $146,500. All in all, the country provided 45 total vehicles for the athletes responsible for winning 33 medals. 2015 Mercedes M-Class and CLS Prototypes Spied

A couple of days ago, Oliver, a reader of the French automotive site called Auto Plus revealed photos of what appeared to be camouflaged prototypes of the 2015 Mercedes M-Class SUV and 2015 CLS. Based on the photos submitted to the France-based car portal, Mercedes-Benz seems to be experimenting on putting a more refreshed look to its upcoming M-Class and CLS-Class. So, these pictures still show a work-in-progress and do not reflect yet the final product of each class. Mercedes-Benz M-Class Gets Top Safety Pick+ Recognition from IIHS

Stricter crash tests? No problem for the Mercedes-Benz M-Class. The 2014 model year of the premium SUV from the German automaker managed to snag the Top Safety Pick+ award in tougher tests overseen by the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This latest award is yet another feather in the cap of the highly acclaimed M-Class line, which also took home 5-star ratings last year from Euro New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) and US NCAP safety tests. A number of Russians have money, and they are big spenders when it comes to cars, especially those coming from the German luxury vehicle manufacturer. However, their spending habits are not limited to typical Mercedes-Benz vehicles since they are also willing to spend on vehicles beefed- up to make them appear more impressive than the typical Mercedes-Benz vehicle. US Sale Of Mercedes-Benz ML250 BlueTec Postponed

The sale of the Mercedes-Benz ML250 BlueTec in the US market has been postponed indefinitely by the German luxury vehicle manufacturer. The SUV was originally scheduled for release in 2014. Mercedes-Benz did not give any reason for the postponement although the successful sales of the ML350 BlueTec may have something to do with it. The technical specifications of the ML250 were not officially revealed by the company. However, it was expected to use a 2.1-liter twin-turbo diesel engine that is currently used on the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 BlueTec. Mercedes-Benz Maintains Momentum in May

Mercedes-Benz continued the trend of growth during the month of May 2013, selling a total of 121,360 units last month that accounts for a 7.3% increase year-over-year. In addition, the automaker also posted a record 562,824 units sold in the year to date, a 5.9% increase compared to the same period last year. Strong performance in the NAFTA region as well as in Europe and Asia are considered the biggest drivers in this growth, and the compact cars and SUV models are the primary breadwinners for the Stuttgart-based company.
