In case you lost time, this is actually the third time we are posting pictures of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG interior. Nevertheless, every pictures is unique and reveals more and more of the upcoming sports car. In case you have forgotten, the SLS (Gullwing) will be smaller than the outgoing SLR, which in addition to the all-new aluminum space frame contributes to a weight of just 3,571 lbs, a full 300 lbs less than the SLR McLaren.
The SLS wheelbase will be 105.5-inch; the front track will be 1.2 inches wider than the rear. The Gullwing will be powered by a 6.2 liter V8 pumping out 563 hp at 6800 rpm and 479 lb ft of torque at 4700 rpm. It will have a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox, a Race Start launch control function, which will propel the SLS from 0-100 km/h in a respectable 3.8 sec. Top speed will be around 196 mph, oh and for those planning on stopping from that speed, they’ll be helped by 15.4 in discs in front squeezed by six piston calipers and 14.2 inches in the back with 4 piston calipers – carbon ceramic rotors are optional.

I am not quite sure why Daimler felt it was necessary to announce that the smart electric drive will be going to production, if they have already had done this in January. Nevertheless, the smart electric drive is officially a go – again. Daimler has confirmed that it is “ready for small series production”. If you follow our blog regularily, you would have learned that Daimler had been preparing for this for a while now. Not only did they purchase 10% in Tesla Motors, to solidify an already exisiting partnership, but they are also teamed up with RWE, an energy company in Germany to provide charging stations for the folks testing the cars. They had real world trials in the UK, Italy and Germany, were they tested hundreds of smart ed’s over the past few years. The first series production vehicles will go on sale in early 2010 in the UK.

On the site of the OMV service station at Stuttgart Airport, OMV in cooperation with Linde AG and Daimler AG has opened Baden-Württemberg’s first publicly accessible hydrogen filling station on June 17, 2009. This successful cooperation between the participating companies is subsidized by the State of Baden-Württemberg.
The project is centered on the use of hydrogen as an environment-friendly energy medium. Hydrogen filling stations represent an important step toward reducing dependence on fossil fuels in the long term and coming a step closer to emission-free sustainable mobility. The innovative hydrogen filling station will serve fuel cell vehicles of the latest generation, such as the Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-CELL, with 700-bar high-pressure technology. Small-series production of this vehicle is to commence later this year in Germany.

Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles from Daimler AG have once again made it to the top in five out of ten categories in the ETM publishing house’s readers’ poll to find “The best commercial vehicles of 2009″. This year was the 13th time the vote has been held. We’ve seen many types of leaked images of upcoming models, but this leak might be one of the most interesting. As you can see above, this image looks like the next E-Class Estate, well not really, it’s actually a 1/43 scale model. It seems that the scale model manufacturer is responsible for leaking images of the next generation Estate. Historically, the development of model cars is parallel to the real models, so that the manufacturer can offer the models right after the actual launch of the vehicle.
Take it how you want, but these are by far the best images of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate, even if only a scale model.
