AMG once again provides the Official F1 Safety and Medical Car

As you might have seen this weekend at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, The SL 63 AMG, as the Official F1 Safety Car, and the C 63 AMG Estate, as the Official F1 Medical Car, are to continue to help ensure maximum safety, this time for the 2009 Formula 1 season. AMG, the performance brand of Mercedes-Benz, will be on duty with the two specially prepared high-performance vehicles at all 17 of the new season’s Formula 1 races. 2009 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton finished the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, the first race of the 2009 Formula 1 World Championship, in third place. His team mate Heikki Kovalainen retired with a broken left front suspension, the consequence of a first-corner incident which was not his fault. Winner of the 58-lap race (307.574 kms) was Brawn Mercedes driver Jenson Button ahead of his team mate Rubens Barrichello; both achieved a 1-2 victory in the team’s first race. New computer illustration of the Mercedes-Benz SLA Roadster

A few months back, we mentioned that Mercedes-Benz might be working on a new and smaller roadster that should be positioned below the current SLK. The SLA is inspired by the BlueZero concept unveiled at the 2009 NAIAS in Detroit and should provide great performance while being power by a small and fuel efficient engine. The SLA will be based on the A-Class platform and would compete directly with VW Bluesport, Audi R2 and BMW Z2. While the above illustration from the folks over at Automarket is not official of course, it is very similar to the BlueZero concept.

The car2go concept coming to Texas in the fall

Following the successful completion of the internal pilot phase, car2go with a fleet of 200 smart fortwo cdi is available from now on to all registered residents and visitors to Ulm – every day, around the clock, and at low rates. From Ulm, car2go goes straight to the international level, to the USA: Daimler plans to launch car2go in Austin, Texas, this autumn. The cost structure is clear and the use is simple: the 19 euro cents charged per minute covers taxes, insurance, mileage and even fuel. Daimler AG trainees build an F-CELL Roadster

The trainees of Daimler AG at the Sindelfingen Mercedes-Benz plant have built a Roadster with a fuel cell drive. For about a year, more than 150 trainees and dual education system students worked on the overall concept, development, assembly, and completion of the F-CELL Roadster. This project involved junior employees from the fields of automotive mechatronics, model-building, electronics, coating technology, manufacturing mechanics, product design, and interior appointments. Mercedes-Benz releases preview of 2010 E63 AMG

They guys over at sports auto have posted a picture of what seems to be an official glimpse at the Mercedes-Benz E-Class E63 AMG. They are still holding off on showing us the entire car, probably until the Frankfurt Atuo Show, but it could definitely happen before. We like how Mercedes-Benz is playing this game, releasing small details to the public ever so often to keep the attention on them.
