Mercedes-AMG Hypercar Set For Frankfurt Motor Show Launch

The Mercedes-AMG hypercar is under works. The most powerful road car of the three-pointed star marque will be launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Months ago, news surfaced that AMG will release a hypercar in 2018. Thomas Weber, the head of research and development of Mercedes, confirmed the project during the Paris Motor Show in September last year. The exec said the Mercedes-AMG hypercar will carry the drivetrain technology of the brand’s Formula One cars. It should be noted that the F1 car of Mercedes houses a 1.6-liter hybrid turbo engine. Mercedes-Benz kicked off the year 2017 with a bang as it showcased its latest cars and SUV at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Among the things that the three-pointed star marque is also celebrating this year is the 50th anniversary of its Mercedes-AMG performance brand. According to the Global Media Site of Daimler, 2016 was a successful year for Mercedes-AMG. Almost 100,000 vehicles carrying the AMG badge were delivered to customers in that period. Mercedes-AMG GmbH continues to expand its portfolio not only in road cars but also in the sporting community. During the end-of-season celebration of the company held on December 3, 2016, AMG boss Tobias Moers revealed that they are developing another race car that is configured to comply with the GT4 rules. The Mercedes-AMG GT R has finally been unveiled. Referred to as the “Beast,” the petrol green sports car made its way to the Brooklands circuit in Great Britain on June 24, 2016. The GT R came to the legendary race track in a dramatic entrance. Placed inside a container, it was carried by a chopper to the venue. Mercedes-AMG F1-Inspired Supercar in the Works

Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers hinted that another standalone model might follow the GT Coupe. Although information is still scarce, the new car would sit between the brand’s road car and the Formula One cars of Mercedes. Moers said in an interview featured in Autocar that the auto will be totally distinct to the Mercedes-AMG GT.
