The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been in production for the last 38 years and a few days ago, it rolled off its 300,000th unit. The car will be on display for the next months, and you can follow its “progress” through its very own hashtag, “Gventure300k”. Why is the 300,000th production of the G-Class, which stands for Geländewagen, so important? Basically, it’s because the six-digit starting price is not for everyone. Mercedes-Benz Bremen Plant Will Produce the GLC Coupe

Mercedes-Benz GLC Production Ramped Up

In a new press release of Mercedes-Benz, the company revealed that it will be expanding its production facilities for the GLC. Currently, the SUV is produced in Bremen, Germany. Its production in the plant began in July this year. But starting 2017, the three-pointed star brand will also roll out the vehicle from Uusikaupunki, Finland. For the expansion, Mercedes contracted Valmet Automotive for the job. One million five hundred thousand cars. Any way you look at it, it’s a landmark production achievement for a car that redefined what was possible for an urban commuter. This milestone was represented by a white smart forwo electric drive cabrio. It was also one of the last vehicles to roll of the production line at Hambach, Lorraine, whose production will be paused for almost two months in July and August. Mercedes Ramps Up A-Class Production

In what must be more than welcome news for Mercedes and its parent Daimler, sales for the compact A-Class are exceeding expectations, to the point that its Rastatt plant will be running three shifts to cover demand. Indications for very strong demand were already evident since the launch of the A-Class in June, when more than 70,000 units were ordered following the market release. With the demand, the Rastatt plant has employed an additional 500 workers on a permanent basis. There’s something we mere consumers must not be aware of, as couple of major manufacturers are eyeing double digit increases in production output for the incoming year.
