Organizers, Red Bull and Mercedes Share Their Story about Tire Test

The organizers of the Monaco Grand Prix confirmed that the official protest for the illegal tire test of Mercedes-Benz was lodged by its rivals Ferrari and Red Bull according to Channel NewsAsia. The complaint came after Nico Rosberg won the race. However, Mark Webber of Red Bull was quick to say that the tire test did not contribute to the team’s win last week because it was not a determining factor in the race. Button Says Even without the Controversial Tire Test, Mercedes Would Still Win

Jenson Button was positive that the controversial “secret testing” of Mercedes-Benz has nothing to do with the team’s win when Nico Rosberg bagged the win in the recent Monaco Grand Prix. In the report of NBC Sports, Button said that the team did a great job. He added that even without the heavily talked about tire test, they would still have won the race. [F1] Mercedes Faces Outcry over Secret Tire Tests

The Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team is in trouble, as it faces potential protests over a series of tests using Pirelli tires in development for next season and also another design that is salted to be introduced at the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix. Ninety percent of the testing was for next season’s tires, according to Pirelli’s motorsport director, Paul Hembery. The tests were done with the F1 W04, and with regular drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
