The Mercedes-Benz X-Class is already history but it continues to live on, thanks to aftermarket tuners who have taken a fascination with it. The unsuccessful pickup truck of the three-pointed star marque will also leave its mark on the next-generation Nissan Navara. The X-Class borrowed the chassis of the Navara but Mercedes made its own modifications to the vehicle to distance itself from its Japanese roots by integrating its design language and tech. Volkswagen Bluntly Criticizes the Mercedes-Benz X-Class

Volkswagen Australia once again takes a verbal jab at the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup. Michael Bartsch, the head of the VW Group in Australia, believes they can do a better job than Mercedes. Bartsch’s interview featured in Motoring voices out the same sentiments raised last year by their head of corporate communications, Paul Pottinger. Pottinger can be recalled saying, “It’s very difficult to disguise a Navara.” He was clearly referring to the level of quality shown by the X-Class, which he thinks is not that different from the Nissan pickup where the Mercedes pickup is based. Mercedes-Benz confirmed through a teaser that it will finally unveil its new pickup truck concept. Called the Mercedes-Benz GLT, the video said the vehicle will make its world premiere on October 25, 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden. The new Mercedes pickup truck is based on the platform of the Nissan Navara but with the signature aesthetics of three-pointed star brand. Based from the tidbits of information shown in the teaser, the frontal half of the GLT appears to follow some of the aggressive styling elements present in the SUVs of Mercedes.
