Driverless Mercedes-Benz E-Class Given Permit To Be Tested In Nevada

Nevada lawmakers granted the Mercedes-Benz E-Class a test license for autonomous driving on public roads under normal traffic conditions, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com. The license essentially makes the E-Class as the first standard-production vehicle to run tests in the Nevada. However, it will be necessary to equip autonomous vehicles with specialized software and hardware, including specially-designed sensors, an adapted ESP and modified steering wheel, to allow them to be tested. The new E-Class may not need any of these add-ons since it already features intelligent technology and the only thing engineers need to do is to adjust the software used on the DRIVE PILOT control unit. Dashboard Panel Of 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Emerges On eBay

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class as yet to be officially unveiled by the German luxury vehicle manufacturer, but it seems some of its components have started to appear on eBay, as shown on a worldcarfans.com report. Since the components have analog dials, it is likely that a test prototype of a base model was the source of the components. A seven-inch color screen separate the two tube-like round dials. While the screen for the infotainment system does not appear to be among the components that appeared on eBay, it measures 8.4 inches. A glossy black frame serves as the base for the dials and screens. The black frame does not seem… Continue Reading »

Potential New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Spotted Recently

Reports of a new Mercedes-Benz E-Class have emerged around a month ago and speculations have emerged following the recent sighting of a half-camouflaged Mercedes-Benz C-Class close to Nurburgring, according to a report from worldcarfans.com. Since the latest C-Class was launched only recently, it may not be a follow-up to the recently-unveiled luxury vehicle. The appearance of the new vehicle also indicates that Mercedes-Benz is working on a new entry to its fleet of luxury vehicles. Although the mysterious vehicle has some similarities to the C-Class, it was not the compact sedan that industry watchers were familiar with since it had a longer hood while its wheel arches were wider. This… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz Strong in August, Posts 18.7% Gain

There’s no slowing down Mercedes-Benz, it seems. The German automaker once again posted a record month in terms of sales, with last August accounting for its best-ever performance in that month. All in all, the company sold 108,417 units, which translates to an 18.7% increase compared to the same month last year. That sales figure for August puts the year-to-date total to 916,644. That’s a 9.3% growth compared to sales figures for the same period in 2012. The biggest reason for the gain? That would be the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class, of which sales grew by 29.9 percent. In addition, the company continued to get solid sales from its go-to segments: SUVs… Continue Reading »
