Daimler AG appears bent on expanding its presence in Central and Eastern Europe. The German luxury vehicle manufacturer recently established a transmissions facility in Romania along with an assembly plant in Hungary. Now, the company is set to open an engine factory in Poland, as indicated on a report from autoevolution.com. The town of Jawor in Poland will serve as the location of the first Mercedes-Benz Cars plant in the country. As of February 17, 2016, Daimler AG announced that Dr. Dieter Zetsche will remain as the company’s Chairman of the Board of Management and the head of Mercedes-Benz Cars. According to the Global Media Site of Daimler, the contract of the Daimler supremo was extended from the end of 2016 to run up to December 31, 2019. Daimler achieves record sales in Q1 2015

Daimler AG continues to roll, having achieved record sales, revenue, and EBIT during the first quarter of 2015, propelled of course by Mercedes-Benz Cars. This is thanks in large part to unit sales growing by 13 percent compared to the same period in 2014, contributing to a 16 percent growth in revenue to some €34 billion (around $37 billion). Mercedes-Benz Cars unit sales in Q1 grew 18 percent, with a nice round total of 459,700. In terms of unit sales, Q1 2015 now holds the record for best quarter in Mercedes history.
