Czech transport firm ICOM takes delivery of 12 Mercedes-Benz Intouro Euro VI buses

ICOM transport of the Czech Republic has recently expanded its fleet with 12 new Mercedes-Benz Intouro Euro VI models now in operation. With the delivery, the Czech market gets its first taste of Euro VI-spec buses. The buses, which run on 220-kW OM 936 BlueEfficiency Power engines, sport the latest technology designed to minimize the environmental footprint of this particular mode of transport. In addition, the buses also come with the latest safety technology. The Intouro model is produced at the Mercedes-Benz Turk A.S. facility in Hosdere, which is located near Istanbul. The interior can comfortably seat 50 passengers and features a high-floor design. Extension for BusWorld Home Hamburg in Full Swing

Omniplus, Daimler’s very own service brand for Mercedes-Benz buses and Setra coaches, is in the midst of constructing an extended complex for its BusWorld Home Hamburg facility. The topping-out ceremony was held in mid-July for the extension that should see an integration of the complete service scope of Daimler’s premier service center. According to BusWorld Home Hamburg chief Uwe Raupach, this expansion was made necessary because of the center’s growth. After all, the service center has been there since way back in 1956, and some of the facilities have not been renovated yet. SWEG Takes Delivery of 4 Euro VI-compliant Mercedes-Benz Citaro Buses

As part of the SWEG transport company’s efforts to provide sustainable and comfortable transportation, it recently took delivery of four Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses that have Euro VI-compliant engines. This way, the company achieves a truly environment-friendly bus service. Tammo Voigt, Mercedes-Benz Buses & Coaches Head of Public Transport Fleet Sales, personally handed the four Citaro units last June 12 to SWEG board spokesman Johannes Müller. Mercedes-Benz Buses Ordered For Brazil

Preparations are being made at the metropolitan areas in Brazil to deal with an expected increase in traffic volumes during the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup. In connection to this, a total of eighty Mercedes-Benz buses were ordered recently from Mercedes-Benz do Brazil. The buses will feature the Bluetec 5 technology, which is friendly to the environment. The buses also satisfy the PROCONVE P-7 standards for exhaust emissions. Sales of PROCONVE P-7 vehicles of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil surpassed the 5,200 unit level in 2012. Mercedes-Benz Integro Gets Engine Range Refresh for Euro VI Compliance

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz Integro touring coach lineup is set to feature a fresh range of BlueEfficiency Power engines geared toward meeting the Euro VI emissions standards. This way, the coaches become more economic as far as fuel consumption goes, and the exhaust emissions are also reduced. The six-cylinder BlueEfficiency Power engines are vertically installed in-line units, with the OM 936 series used for two-axel models and OM 470 series for three-axle models. Both sport common-rail injection systems, with the latter getting injection pressure from a pressure-booster-equipped X-PULSE injection system. Over 500 Mercedes-Benz City Buses Ordered for Brazilian Fleet Updates

The orders are piling up for Daimler and Mercedes-Benz Buses, especially in Brazil. As the country prepares for an influx of people for the 2014 World Cup as well as the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, bus fleets in the country’s major cities are also gearing up with updates. The city of Fortaleza, which will host some of the soccer games for the World Cup, has a standing order of 135 BlueTec-5-equipped Mercedes-Benz city buses.
