Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Claims Nurburgring Lap Record

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door just went around the 12.8-mile track of the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Using the AMG GT 63 S version of the car, it set a lap time of 7:25.41. Mercedes immediately went on to claim bragging rights as the automaker said that it’s new record set by a four-door production car. The claim of Mercedes is hotly contested by Jaguar though. In 2017, the XE SV Project 8 of the British automaker finished a whole lap on the endurance track in 7:21.23. A couple of days ago, the YouTube channel of TheBayAreaRacing shared a drag race between a Mercedes-AMG GT S and a Jaguar F-Type R. It’s a battle of two V8-powered cars. Based on a popular benchmarking platform, Mercedes-Benz is the most popular car brand in the digital media for the first half of 2014. The assessment of the top car brands in the world was facilitated by eBench. The period covered was from January 1, 2014 to June 30, 2014. The automakers that were included in the study, aside from Mercedes-Benz, were Audi, BMW, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Lexus and Land Rover. Petersen Automotive Museum, an LA-based non-profit organization housing the world’s largest automotive museum, launched an event showcasing “The World’s Greatest Sports Coupes” last week on April 10. The event sponsored by Jaguar featured a dozen of sports coupes handpicked by twelve celebrity guest curators. It also included a collection of artistic sports coupe photos from renowned automotive photographer Scott Williamson.
