The Formula One team of Mercedes-AMG Petronas truly stood out in the sporting community in the season that just ended after handing rivals a crushing defeat and dominating majority of the races all year. The team not only became a Constructors’ Champion but its driver Lewis Hamilton also won the World Championship. It should be noted that Nico Rosberg trailed just behind his partner in the overall drivers’ rankings and would have put on quite a show in the last race if it weren’t for mechanical issues. [DTM] Vietoris with Podium Finish, Paffett Fourth for Mercedes-Benz

While the team was not able to claim a win in the season-opening race at Hockenheim, Christian Vietoris and Gary Paffett ensured that the team would be off to a strong start. Vietories claimed his first DTM podium finish after coming in third behind race winner Augusto Farfus and second-placer Dirk Werner, while Gary Paffett crossed the finish line around three seconds later for fourth place. Vietoris, a member of the Junior Team currently competing for Mercedes-Benz in the 2013 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, was 9.675 seconds behind Farfus, who clocked 1:10:11.583. [2013 DTM] Mercedes-Benz Gets Ready for Season Opener

The first weekend in May will see tons of racing action as the 2013 season of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters gets underway at Hockenheim. The Mercedes-Benz team for 2013 will feature one veteran and a bunch of young drivers ready to make their mark. Last year’s runner-up Gary Paffett will be joined by junior team members Roberto Merhi, Christian Vietoris, and Robert Wickens at Mercedes-Benz  HWA Team, while Mucke Motorsport will be fielding Daniel Juncadella and Pascal Wehrlein. Mercedes-Benz rules at DTM Hockenheim

In a brilliant display of racing supremacy, Mercedes-Benz driver Gary Paffett stunned an audience of 71,000 at Sunday’s DTM race season opener by beating drivers from rival German manufacturer teams BMW and Audi. Despite a slight mishap at the start of the race and multiple brushes with other cars, 31-year-old Parfett shows he’s got the right attitude and skills to beat everyone else, including his teammate Jamie Green, to the chequered flag.
