Valtteri Bottas Emerges Victorious Amidst Chaos in Austrian GP

Valtteri Bottas managed to win the Formula One Austrian Grand Prix despite the race being riddled with drama from start to finish. Lewis Hamilton was only half a second far from his Mercedes AMG Petronas teammate in the checkered flag but a five-second penalty kicked him out from the second to the fourth rank. Hamilton was penalized in the Qualifying for failing to slow down when the yellow flags were lifted following Bottas going off track during the session. As a result, Red Bull lodged a complaint and the stewards gave the reigning World Champion a three-place grid penalty that promoted Max Verstappen to P2. Verstappen appeared to challenge the… Continue Reading »

Lewis Hamilton lights up the fuse after his sport has been seemingly silent on the issue of racism in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death under the hands of a Minnesota police officer. The Mercedes AMG Petronas driver’s statements sparked comments from his fellow racers in Formula 1. “I see those of you who are staying silent, some of you the biggest of stars yet you stay silent in the midst of injustice,” Hamilton posted on his official Instagram account. “I would have thought by now you would see why this happens and say something about it but you can’t stand alongside us. Just know I know who you are… Continue Reading »

Lewis Hamilton comes back stronger by winning the Formula 1 British Grand Prix after he failed to win the previous race in Austria. The sixth victory of the Briton in the UK marks another milestone in his career because he is now the driver with the most wins in his home track. Despite the advantage held by his teammate Valtteri Bottas at the start of the event, Hamilton was able to snatch the lead when the Safety Car came out. He used the moment to make his only pit stop. Bottas already pitted prior to that, so with fresh tires on the champ’s car, there was no stopping his onslaught…. Continue Reading »

Mercedes F1 Hat-trick Nostalgia

Winners of the constructors title for the fifth season running, there seems to be no stopping Mercedes F1 on track. Lewis Hamilton is now a racer who can be backed years in advance to win the title, and perhaps the only regret of Silver Arrows fans is that the team spent such a long hiatus out of the game. Between 1956 and 2009, the name of Mercedes was absent from the list of Formula 1. Yet, there were some fantastic talents on board in the mid-1950s, with Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss being prominent names in that regard. They form the first part of this nostalgic list of famous… Continue Reading »

Kimi Raikkonen Wins and Delays Fifth World Title of Lewis Hamilton

The 2018 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix should have been the defining moment of Lewis Hamilton as he was set to win his fifth World Drivers’ Championship. However, the unexpected win of Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen held him back from his goal for at least another week. The race began with Hamilton on the pole position, so everyone saw his fifth championship reign coming in the US event. When the race went underway though, the Briton appeared to struggle when Raikkonen snatched the lead. The Finn gambled on softer tires with better grip but less durability, which paid off in his favor. The Ferrari driver maintained his position going to… Continue Reading »

Lewis Hamilton Poised to Win Fifth World Title

Lewis Hamilton is on his way to tying the record of the legend Juan Manuel Fangio as his win at the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix allowed him to extend his lead against Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel in the driver standings. It’s only a matter of time until he clutches a fifth world championship in the sport. The Japanese GP saw a one-two victory for Mercedes F1 with Hamilton on top while his teammate Valtteri Bottas settled on the second place. The Briton closest rival in the standings, Vettel, was left out at the sixth place during the finish due to an early collision with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen that left… Continue Reading »
