Mercedes-Benz Invests $1 Billion For Electric Vehicles in the US

Mercedes-Benz continues to push its momentum in tapping into the electric vehicle market in the US. In line with the goal to produce electric variants of all its models going to 2022, the company revealed that it is investing $1 billion in the region. Mercedes made the announcement during the 20th anniversary of its Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant. The move is expected to create more than 600 new jobs in the area. A teaser for the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQ A was just officially released. The vehicle will carry an all-electric powertrain, and it will be unveiled by its maker at the coming Frankfurt Motor Show this month. As reported previously, Mercedes-Benz is gearing to launch at least 10 electric vehicles (EV) by 2022. The units include sedans, SUVs, hatchbacks and commercial vehicles. First Electric Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen Launched By Arnold Schwarzenegger

On January 24 , 2017 the first all-electric Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen was launched in Austria. Gracing the event was Hollywood action star Arnold Schwarzenegger. It should be noted though that the all-electric G-Wagen is not officially from Mercedes. The SUV was a project of Austrian firm Kreisel Electric, according to Wheels magazine. Other known offerings of the company are EV versions of the Porsche Panamera, BMW 3-Series Touring, Skoda Yeti and Volkswagen Golf.
