Tommy and Fred: A Tale of Two Crash Dummies

Last June, Mercedes-Benz launched a series of shorts about two crash dummies named Tommy and Fred. The comedic duo is used to highlight the key safety features and tech of Mercedes cars. Tommy appears more enthusiastic about his job but Fred is a more uptight character undergoing a midlife crisis. The former is always impressed with the features of Mercedes cars. Meanwhile, Fred is more inclined to getting and doing serious damage, because after all, that’s what crash dummies are for. IIHS Gives the 2014 Mercedes E-Class a Top Safety Pick+ Rating

Mercedes-Benz is not only a brand known for providing customers with elegant, comfortable, technologically-advanced and high-performance vehicles, it is also praised for its top-of-the-line standards when it comes to safety. Recently, the marque’s 2014 Mercedes E-Class was tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. As expected, the results were nothing short of impressive. In fact, the vehicle even gained the Top Safety Pick+ rating. It should be noted that the 2014 Mercedes E-Class is the second vehicle from the brand to earn such distinction. Mercedes Spoke About the Poor Crash Rating of the new Mercedes C-Class

A new frontal crash test was developed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and most luxury cars; including Mercedes-Benz did not get a good grade. According to CBS News, the test is designed to simulate what happened in a collision with a car, a pole or tree. At 40 miles per hour and at 25% of car’s front end, the cars are bumped into a barrier. In this test, only 3 out of 11 cars got a good grade while Mercedes earned poor score. The B-Class, M-Class and C-Class Coupe Passed the NCAP Crash Test

Mercedes-Benz’ new car models, the B-, M- and C-Class Coupe were awarded the best in the crash test based on the European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). Both the B- and the M- Class are the best in their categories while the C-Class Coupe got the prime rating of five stars for outstanding occupant protection. Other Mercedes’ innovations were also given awards. The PRE-SAFE system, COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST and ATTENTION ASSIST were recognized because of their benefits and the safety it can bring to riders or owners.
