Spied Mercedes-Benz CLE Convertible Shows Strong Resemblance with the SL

The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLE is an upcoming range that will fill the void left behind by the folding of the C-Class and E-Class coupe and convertible models. Recently, the prototype for the cabrio variant of the new series was spied making its rounds on the road. The CLE spied by Carbuzz features the typical zebra camouflage wrapped on Mercedes test cars. However, the tight fitting of the covers does give us plenty of hints as to what to expect from the upcoming top-down version of the car. At a glance, the CLE convertible strikes us as a baby version of the SL. It adopts the more compact layout of the… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz G500 Cabriolet Final Edition Hits the Auction Block

It’s been nearly a decade since the Mercedes-Benz G500 Cabriolet went into extinction. With only around 200 units made and having no idea how many of them survived up to this day, it’s good to see one that reminds us of this very rare G-Class from time to time. Now, this is the open-air G-Class that we would really like to be revived in limited edition series and not another one of those mixed-bag G-Class Landaulets. Although there are rumors that Merc is planning on bringing it back, we are taking the insider gossip with a grain of salt as this doesn’t appear to be the German automaker’s priority as… Continue Reading »

Mercedes CLE Sets Out to Replace the C-Class and E-Class Coupes and Cabrios

The line-up of Mercedes-Benz has ballooned over the years, but the company later realized that having a wide array of spin-off cars doesn’t always translate to more sales. Let’s say, for example, the C-Class and E-Class coupe and convertible models aren’t exactly really doing well even during pre-pandemic times. So, their axing has been in discussion in the past few years. Now, the German automaker finally confirmed that the mentioned two-door units are about to be streamlined into a single car, the Mercedes CLE. According to reports, MBUSA already informed its US dealerships about the matter. The decision came after the dwindling sales of the coupe and cabrio offshoots of… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-AMG SL 43 Tech is Derived from F1 Race Cars

Mercedes-Benz just unveiled its new convertible, the Mercedes-AMG SL 43. The seventh-generation SL boasts high performance, more advanced tech, and a new level of enjoyment while driving. However, purists have lately reacted to the decision of the German automaker to skip the six- and eight-pot engines in favor of a turbocharged four-cylinder in this specific model. The AMG SL43 is the entry-level version of its range. Beneath the hood of the car lies a measly 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, but don’t let that fool you because the integration of a turbocharger with a mild-hybrid 48-volt electric motor allows it to produce up to 376 hp and 479 Nm of torque. All… Continue Reading »

New Mercedes-AMG SL to Get Either 4- or 8-Cylinder Engines

With only two weeks away until the IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich kicks off, there have been rumors that the upcoming Mercedes-AMG SL will be added to the repertoire of autos making their world premiere at the event. Company insiders and reports claim that the car will either get four- or eight-cylinder engines for its trims. According to sources, there’s a likelihood that the new AMG SL 45 guise of the range will take an M139 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine partnered to a mild-hybrid set up with an electric turbocharger. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line AMG SL 63 models will probably get V8 units with a mild-hybrid configuration. The latter should be able… Continue Reading »

2022 Mercedes-AMG SL Strips Out More Camo in New Spy Shots

New spy shots reveal more of what’s about to come from the new Mercedes-AMG SL. The latest sighting of the car shows that some of its camouflage has been stripped. The new photos from Motor1 tease the slick bodywork of the upcoming AMG SL. The near-production model is finished in gunmetal gray with a black soft top. The car also appears to be sporting the electronic pop-up door handles found in the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class and chrome running boards. Based on some press releases and hints from Mercedes earlier, AMG is now at the helm of the SL’s development, and it’s set to be unveiled at the end of this… Continue Reading »

Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet Spied

As Mercedes-Benz has been slowly streamlining its products to bring more focus on electric vehicles, crossovers, and SUVs, the future of its niche two-door lineup within the C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class are put into question. Speculations about the dilution of the two-door C-Class cars were further fueled when the automaker launched the range’s next-generation sedan and wagon variants but it left out the details about its coupe and cabriolet versions. New spy shots confirm that the three-pointed star marque is still developing the next-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet though. Recently, a video of the car surfaced showing its road testing in Germany. The prototype is heavily clad in camouflage and there… Continue Reading »
