Mercedes-Benz Boosts SUV Production in Alabama Plant

Mercedes-Benz is currently facing a high demand for its sport utility vehicles in the United States. The demand is such that Mercedes-Benz USA already warned that the supply for its SUV’s would be tight, similar to the CLA issue earlier. To address the impending shortage, Mercedes is expanding the operations of its Alabama plant to be able to accommodate the production of additional 60,000 vehicles annually. Presently, there are four types of vehicles being manufactured in the four million square-foot Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant of the three-pointed star brand namely the C-Class Coupe, M-Class, GL-Class SUV and the R-Class crossover. Mercedes-Benz Plans to Rename the M-Class to GLE

Mercedes-Benz is currently undergoing some major changes in the names of its popular vehicle ranges. Among the ranges affected by the new comprehensive renaming strategy of the brand is the M-Class. According to Automotive News, the German luxury automaker will drop the “M-Class” name in favor of the GLE class. In addition to the renaming, the new GLE would also receive a major facelift in early 2015. Its crossover coupe version, which was initially revealed as the Concept Coupe SUV and rumored to carry the GLE Coupe moniker, is scheduled to be launched at around April next year in Beijing. 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG Coupe Prototype Spotted

A video was emerged recently showing the 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG Coupe as it was tested at the Nurburgring, as indicated in the report from gtspirit.com. Reports have also indicated that luxury vehicle may also be called the MLC 63 AMG. The ML 63/MLC 63 is expected to go up against the second-generation BMW X6. The continuing testing of the prototype is reportedly in preparation for its expected release into the market near the end of 2015. Mercedes-Benz already unveiled its Concept Coupe SUV at the Beijing Motor Show last Easter. Spy photos of the vehicle have been making their rounds online as well. Presently, there is no confirmation yet about its production version’s release date or its production model’s name. Mercedes MLC Spied for the First Time

The Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe SUV was only revealed last Easter at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. But now, thanks to the ever-vigilant spies of WorldCarFans, photos of the Coupe SUV’s prototype finally emerged. Although the photos showed a completely camouflaged vehicle, we are pretty positive that it is the Mercedes MLC. Looking at the slope connecting the roof line to the hood and the one at the rear plus the overall contours of the auto, it surely reflects the platform used by the Concept Coupe SUV that we witnessed in Beijing.
