Euro Parliament Mandates DRLs For Trucks

The European Parliament has decided that beginning November 1 of this year, all trucks of 3.5 tons and above will need to be equipped with daytime running lights. Although initially meeting some resistance when they were first introduced in cars, DRLs have been proven to increase safety through better visibility and perception. But safety-minded Mercedes has introduced daytime running lights on its trucks for some time, as seen on the ‘Citaro Euro VI’ and the new ‘ComfortClass 500’ buses and the new ‘Citan’ city van. Hybrid Transport Makes Inroads In Munster

Hybrid vehicles make it to the mainstream news on a regular basis these days, touting their green advantages and all that. Normally, hybrids are associated with frugal daily drivers, although hybrid sports cars seem to be in our immediate future too. Now, a municipal transport operator in Munster, Germany has begun running a pair of hybrid buses supplied by Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz Got Seven Best Commercial Vehicles Award, Won Best Brands in 2012 Poll

Last night in Stuttgart, Mercedes won got seven awards, five for its vehicles and two for its services. The Sprinter vans won the “vans up to 3.5t” category, the Actros for the “long haul truck” and “dump tucks up to 32t” category, “urban regular-service buses” was bagged by the Citaro and the Tourino was awarded the best in “midibuses” category. Daimler Buses Delivers 100 Mercedes-Benz Citaro Buses to Abu Dhabi

Daimler Buses has been awarded a contract to deliver 100 Mercedes-Benz Citaro city buses to Abu Dhabi. The buses will be used in the public transport system of the city of Al Ain, which has a population of 500,000. Delivery is scheduled to commence in July 2009. Daimler Buses and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport have also signed a contract covering comprehensive service and maintenance for the Citaro buses.
