Lewis Hamilton will be in pole position to kick off the 2017 F1 season. The Mercedes driver won a tight qualifying which saw Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel take P2 (with a time of 1:22.456) and new Silver Arrows driver Valtteri Bottas claim P3 (1:22.481). Hamilton clocked 1:22.188, a mere 0.268 ahead of Vettel, while Bottas was just a shade behind P2 with a 0.025 difference between himself and the Ferrari. The pole position is the 62nd of Hamilton’s career. He is in third on the all-time list, and he’s closing in fast on Ayrton Senna with 65. Michael Schumacher is at the top of that list with 68. Mercedes seems to be gearing for another impressive win in the upcoming Formula One Australian Grand Prix. In the most recent practice session, its drivers logged the fastest time on the track. Nico Rosberg led the practice with a time of one minute and 27.697 seconds. Lewis Hamilton, the defending F1 World Champion, came in next in just a split-second with a time of one minute and 27.797 seconds. Ferrari trailed behind Mercedes in the event. Michael Schumacher, the seven-time Formula One World Champion, is now “out of coma” and has been transferred to another hospital for recovery. According to CNN, Schumacher will be transferred from the hospital in Grenoble, France, where was admitted last year following a near-death skiing accident, to a university health facility in Lausanne, Switzerland.
