New spy shots reveal that the range-topping Mercedes-AMG GT R is getting a roadster model. The sports car is an addition to the ever-growing lineup of the Mercedes-AMG GT range that includes the GT Coupe, GT Roadster, GT C Coupe, GT C Roadster, GT S Coupe and GT R Coupe. The list does not even count the race cars, GT3 and GT4, that sprouted from the range. The spy shots of Motor1 show the Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster mostly covered in zebra camouflage. Even as the Goodwood Festival of Speed became the venue for the introduction of the Mercedes-AMG GT R recently, it appears the luxury vehicle manufacturer is already working on an upcoming variant of the luxury vehicle. Two images emerged recently showing the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster, as shown on a report from motor1.com. The GT Roadster was spotted on the Autobahn as it was being compared with a Porsche 911 Cabriolet. A new tuning package for the Mercedes-AMG GT unveiled by Lorinser is down-to-earth, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com. The new package increases the power output of the luxury sports car to 585 HP while the torque went up to 553 lb-ft. The “vigorous power upgrade,” which is compatible to the AMG GT and AMG GT S, shortens the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration to 3.6 seconds. In addition, the 0 to 200 km/h acceleration is reduced to 10.1 seconds. The car can reach its top speed of 300 km/h within 27.3 seconds, which is an impressive feat in itself.
