Video: Actros as a Taxi?

A nice video made in cooperation with Jung von Matt, the leading ad agency of Daimler, shows the Actros as a taxi to show its harshest critics what are its benefits. It passed by Volvo and MAN and picked up passengers from their offices. The result was impressive, not surprisingly, because the “employees” of the competitors seem to like what they saw inside the Mercedes truck. People at the Munich airport were also fascinated by the “taxi truck”, who wouldn’t be?

Mercedes-Benz Actros voted “Truck of the Year 2009″

On the occasion of the International Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover, a panel of experts has elected the new Mercedes-Benz Actros “Truck of the Year 2009”. The specialist journalists from 21 European countries paid tribute to the enhanced economy, environmental compatibility, safety and comfort afforded by the innovative technology. Mercedes system could prevent half of Truck accidents

According to the findings of development engineers at Mercedes-Benz following a fleet test conducted with a total of 1,000 Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer in 2005/2006, half of the serious truck accidents could be prevented. For the purposes of the trial, half of the trucks were equipped with the Lane Assistant, proximity control and stability control assistance systems. The number of accidents for the vehicles fitted with the safety package was shown to be halved compared to the 500 trailer with a conventional specification; furthermore, where an accident did occur, the cost of the damage was 90% lower.
