If an S550 and a CL550 had a child: The CS500

Those oil rich sheiks have nothing better to do but spend their fortune on exotic cars. That of course is not enough for some, which is where the tuning companies come in. MyCar is one of those tuning companies that will do anything for the right price, which is exactly what happened when a rich Saudi man wanted his S550 to look like a CL550. MyCar took the front of a CL550 and basically transplanted it on to the S550, creating a new offspring, the CS500. They definitely deserve props for a job well done.

Mercedes-Benz dropping the CLK and CL names

If our friends over at Auto-Motor-und-Sport have it right, then Mercedes-Benz will be changing its naming convention for convertibles and coupes in the near future. The CLK will be the first to go and be replaced by names such as E-Class Convertible and Coupe in 2009. It’s said that Mercedes will expend this strategy to the other models as well, so that at the end of 2009, the CL name will be gone and replaced by the S-Class Coupe. Now this of course may come as a shock to some people, but if we go back a decade, we will see that Mercedes actually used such names to describe their… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz S-Class and CL-Class AMG versions spied

Our friend, Richard Truesdell from Automotive Traveler, came across test vehicles of what appears to be AMG versions of the 2009 S-Class and CL-Class. As of now, the only evolutionary changes that we can spot is the front fascia. The lack of camo gives might be a hint that these vehicles are on their final test run for a mid-cycle refresh for 2009. Just as Rich stated, we might be moments away from an official word from Stuttgart, introducing both the S and CL face lifted 2009 model. Check out the entire gallery at Automotive Traveler

LSD doors render new look and entry for your CL-Class

. The present Mercedes-Benz CL class was launched in 2006 and the stylish and curvy two-door coupe has been a strong performer since then. The coupe is known for its safety, performance, boot space and power, and what else could one ask for? There are a few though who adore Lamborghini or Mclaren or even the Koennigsegg. Not for their power, performance or looks, but for the wing doors! They didn’t have the cash to buy one and settled for the CL, but now, with a fraction of that amount, the CL could be fitted with desirable wing doors to give the CL one more equipment common to those Supercars…. RENNtech goes bezerk with 695HP CL65

The last few years have seen a flood of 500 horsepower sedans almost pouring out of Germany from BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz. Earlier this month, however, representatives from Mercedes and AMG announced that the “horsepower wars” were over, saying that outright power would no longer be the “main focus” for future sports sedans. Apparently, no-one sent that “war over” memo to RENNTECH. This morning, RENNTECH announced a new “stage 3” tune for the 2008 65 series AMG models, which makes use of what RENNTECH calls “next-generation ECU software” to get 695 hp and 890 lb-ft of torque from the AMG’s twin-turbo V12.
