Daimler Expands Its Intelligent Platform Strategy for Trucks

Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and responsible for Daimler Trucks & Buses, proudly revealed that their strategy for their trucks is working well. As a result, they are taking it further and planning to expand the program. Video of Self-Driving Mercedes-Benz Actros in Action

The last time we saw a video of the Mercedes-Benz self-driving truck in action, it was during its unveiling. But its testing was only limited within its maker’s driving facility, and the only vehicles you can see along its way are its fellow three-pointed star branded autos. A few days ago, it was finally unleashed on the highway with actual traffic. Daimler Sets India as Export Base for Asian and African Markets

Daimler Trucks and Buses Chief Becomes ACEA CV Board Chairman

Daimler Board member in charge of Trucks and Buses, Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, has just been elected as the chairman of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA)’s Commercial Vehicle Board. According to Dr. Bernhard, the success and sustainability of commercial vehicle manufacturers depends on their ability to “jointly articulate and address our industry’s developments, progress, and demands, and make them known to political decision-makers.” That was part of the statement he gave at the last board meeting. Daimler Trucks Targeting Number 1 Spot

According to new Daimler Trucks boss Wolfgang Bernhard, the division is eyeing the number one spot as far as the trucks industry is concerned. The aim, said Bernhard, is to be at the top “in every way,” in a letter that was sent to the company’s staff, a statement made public via Bloomberg. At the moment, Daimler Trucks is still behind its main rivals Volvo and Scania from a profit standpoint. It posted a 5.5-percent profit margin in 2012, compared to Volvo’s 5.8 percent and Scania’s 14 percent. Zetsche Not Yet Ready to Give Bernhard the Key to Mercedes Management

A report by Reuters said that Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche is not yet ready to give up the reigns to Wolfgang Bernhard.
