Mercedes Reportedly Looking Into Bringing Vito Van To America

Because of the Sprinter van’s sales performance in North America, Mercedes-Benz is looking at the market for introducing a smaller van that will complement its full-sized cargo and people mover. The Vito has been Mercedes staple van in other worldwide markets, being marketed since 1996. It is available with different engine configurations, and has been tested recently with an all-electric powertrain, the E-Cell in Mercedes parlance. Internal configurations for the Vito include both cargo and passenger-carrying  layouts, with the total capacity being dependent on the dimensions of the Vito, which, in its markets worldwide is available in three lengths and two roof heights. Mercedes-Benz’s vision for commercial transport at the NEC

Vito E-Cell Heralds New Era For Commercial Electric Vehicles

In another first, Mercedes has delivered to a Spanish custormer 5 Vito E-Cell vans. With Basque Prime Minister López, Mercedes-Benz Vans Production Head, Dr Heinrich Weiss and Jose Luis Lopez-Schummer Trevino, President of Mercedes-Benz Spain, the presentation of the E-Cell Vito Vans were made to Augustine Markaide, President of the supermarket chain Eroski. After 100 of these vans were successfully used in Berlin and Stuttgart, the Vito E-Cell will prove its suitability for everyday applications in Spain. Vito E-Cells being tested for service by Deutsche Post DHL

It’s only a matter of time before electric vehicles start to increase in numbers. They not only bring with them fuel savings, but virtually zero emissions as well, making them uber-friendly to the environment. Take the Mercedes-Benz Vito E-Cell for instance. Heads up, folks. Mercedes-Benz has released details on the Vito E-CELL. In case you’re wondering, it’s the all-electric version of the Vito van, kinda’ like the SLS AMG E-CELL, only it isn’t a super car. Nevertheless, it’s sure to save a lot of business folks a lot of money with its all-electric drivetrain. There are now a hundred units that have been assembled for Mercedes-Benz’s test fleet. And there’s a further 2,000 units that are to be produced beginning next year. Vito Gets E-CELL Version

You thought Mercedes-Benz’s only interested in selling the battery-powered version of the SLS AMG, didn’t you? Well, that ain’t right. Especially now that the company has just revealed that they’re making an electric version of their Vito van as well, and appropriately calls it the Vito E-CELL. Ring a bell? Well, it ain’t as sophisticated nor frighteningly fast as its super car sibling, the SLS AMG E-CELL, but it does offer the quite same line of benefits—zero emission and independence from a petroleum source for fuel.
