Perfect Partner Campaign Highlights Mercedes Vito Van

BenzInsider fan and creative artist Tom Ward recently called to our attention a couple of videos he and his team put together to portray the Mercedes Vito Van as the perfect partner for industry and commerce. In the video entitled Courier, a delivery man is shown becoming agitated over a bird dropping. With utter disregard for the packages in his care, this courier rummages over the contents of the packages in order to find a suitable rag to wipe away the filth on his Vito’s windshield. Satisfied over his handiwork, the courier leaves the packages strewn by the roadside to step back into his beloved Vito. Another video, titled Builders… Continue Reading »

Pioneer Uses Vito Van To Demo Audio System

When you want to literally shake the ground with your premium audio system, mere cars are too small to cram in all those speakers, enclosures, amps and signal processors. Thus Pioneer wisely chose a Vito 122 CDI as its platform for building up its Project X DJ van. With two 15” competition class SPL and four 10” Champion Series subs, two Pioneer CDJs, a state of the art mixer, eight independent amplifiers, four batteries and a 300amp power supply, the system does need the Vito’s 224 horsepower diesel V6 to haul all that equipment around. And one can only imagine how that Vito sounds when the DJ cranks that 30,000-watt… Continue Reading »

Vilner Showcases Vito’s Luxury Possibilities

Looking more like an executive business jet’s cabin than a small earthbound van, Bulgarian tuner Vilner has taken an ordinary Mercdes Vito van and made it truly extraordinary. The understated exterior treatment hints at very little of the transformation wrought by Vilner to the interior of the van. From the outside, the van just sports aftermarket wheels and a subdued presence. Open the sliding door, step inside, and you are transported to a plush luxury interior that you wouldn’t be embarassed to accommodate any VIP or celebrity in. Four ultra-plush seats occupy the cabin, whose headliner and side trim are finished in matching-color Nappa leather, Alcantara and fine wood. Tinted… Continue Reading »

Viano and Vito First To Get Kinetic System Enhancements

As part of an enhancement to its BlueEFFICIENCY package, Daimler has announced a new generator management system that will aid in further reducing the fuel consumption of its vehicles. To be introduced next month, the new generator management system converts kinetic energy generated by the vehicle into electrical energy, which is then stored. Feeding this heretofore wasted energy back into the electrical system means that the alternator’s load can be lessened, which in turn reduces the load on the engine. The system works seamlessly and transparently from the driver’s standpoint, and the management system works to heighten the charging rate of the battery when needed. Using kinetic energy from the… Continue Reading »

Because of the Sprinter van’s sales performance in North America, Mercedes-Benz is looking at the market for introducing a smaller van that will complement its full-sized cargo and people mover. The Vito has been Mercedes staple van in other worldwide markets, being marketed since 1996. It is available with different engine configurations, and has been tested recently with an all-electric powertrain, the E-Cell in Mercedes parlance. Internal configurations for the Vito include both cargo and passenger-carrying  layouts, with the total capacity being dependent on the dimensions of the Vito, which, in its markets worldwide is available in three lengths and two roof heights.
