SLS AMG body and performance kit by FAB Design

FAB D Mercedes SLS AMG 2 597x397 SLS AMG body and performance kit by FAB Design

Tuners just can’t keep their hands off the SLS AMG. The latest company to come up with their reworked version of the Gullwing supercar is none other than Swiss tuning corp FAB Design. We’re not so sure yet what the specs are on their SLS, but we can assure you that the power rating would at least be 40 more horses than the stock V8. So that means a minimum power of 611 horses, enough to give you a 3.7-second dash from zero to sixty, just 0.1 seconds faster than in stock form.

So what else is new with FAB Design’s SLS? Well, of course, as with any real tuning company, there’s always the customized body kit, to give the supercar a different character. The FAB Design kit includes a redesigned front bumper, additional air vents, a lip spoiler, side skirts, a race type roof air scoop, restyled rear bumper to locate four exhaust tips, plus a fixed rear wing. And oh, don’t forget the 20-inch rims that fit tightly thanks to lowering suspension.

If you ask us, FAB Design’s body kit gives the SLS AMG that young, street tuned look, a far cry from the SLS AMG GT3. Still, with this body kit, you’re sure to get eyes rolling on your ride while it’s sitting in the parking lot.

Superchips presents remapped ECU for C350 CDi BlueEFFICIENCY

mercedes benz c350 cdi 597x427 Superchips presents remapped ECU for C350 CDi BlueEFFICIENCY
The Brits really got it going on with their tuning prowess as Superchips presents their latest take on the Mercedes-Benz C350 CDi BlueEFFICIENCY. They have now released a remapped ECU boosting power up by 34 bhp and 80 Nm. The new ECU is applicable to all variants of the C, E, M and R and S-Class models, and has been verified through intense road, chassis and dyno testing.

The Superchips ECU will give you an additional 34 bhp at 3,008 rpm, thus giving you a maximum power of 284 bhp, as opposed to 250 bhp in stock form. But unlike most ECU’s that bump the power while sacrificing drivability, Superchips says theirs gives you maximum power anywhere from 2,700 to 4,400 rpm. Torque has been spread out from 642 Nm at 2,469 rpm to a maximum of 2,549 Nm at 3,009 rpm. That should give your right foot enough room to handle all the power.

With a balance in power and drivability, Superchip’s remapped ECU should result in a more edgier driving experience, with sharper acceleration and throttle response. Heck, it gives you enough power not only to overtake but to tow as well. But even with all that power, the engine will still feel smooth as silk. It’s now available for GBP 445. That pricetag includes installation and taxes and should be applicable for all models from June 2009 onwards.

Hamann drops SLS AMG for meaner stance and performance

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is an exciting super car in its own right. But that won’t stop tuners from keeping their hands off it. That’s what they do for a living, and undeniably there are wealthy folks out there who want their super car to stand out from the rest. Fortunately, as many as there are millionaires who can afford not one but a pair of SLS AMG’s, there are tuners who are more than willing to offer something new. Hamann is one of them.

One look at the Hamann SLS AMG and you’ll instantly notice its 21-inch wheels. Design Edition Race Anodized—that’s the name given to the exclusive set of wheels that are made of two pieces lightweight aluminum alloy that have been forged, painted matte black in the center. To create contrast in the wheel design, the connecting bolts are made from titanium, while the lip is completely left bare for the forged aluminum to show.

The next thing you’ll notice is the ride height. The Hamann SLS has been lowered from stock by barely over one inch. The entirely aggressive stance gives almost no wheel gap up front. Ride comfort and handling haven’t been sacrificed, though. It gives the SLS a lot more grip and a progressive sensation. Engine specs have been made confidential. What we do know is that the exhaust system has been upgraded to 3.5-inch quad tailpipes that create a different tune from normal.

Need we say more? Hamann’s kit starts at €10,500 ($13,500).
