Daimler sends fleet to Japan for disaster relief assistance

Daimler has already sent at least 2 million euro worth of cash donation to Japan in order to help with relief efforts after the quake and tsunami disaster that hit the country. Now, the company has decided to amp up the support for victims by sending 50 vehicles worth almost 4 million euro to Nippon Foundation, the Japanese aid organization that is responsible for spearheading rebuilding activities in disaster-struck areas in Japan. The main role that the vehicles are going to play is in giving support assistance to clean-up operations being undertaken in the country’s northeastern region. A couple of business men located in Mongolia recently placed an order for two matching customized Mercedes-Benz Zetros extreme off-road trucks. Guess what they’ll be using the pair of 6-wheel-drive trucks for? Hunting. These two guys seem to be looking for extreme game, hence the need for extreme gear like these souped-up Zetros units. Daimler Launches BharatBenz Trucks In India

It seems that Mercedes’ parent company Daimler is looking at India with new vigor. Following its relaunch of the Maybach ultraluxury brand and the introduction of the G-Class with the AMG G55, Daimler has launched an excusive brand of trucks labeled BharatBenz for the Indian market. Says Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, “We are sending a clear message with our new truck brand: Daimler is at home in India. Our BharatBenz trucks are the right combination of Daimler’s DNA and India’s market know-how. Daimler And Kamaz Sign Axle Deal

German manufacturer Daimler and Kamaz of Russia continue their cozy relationship with the signing of  a new agreement. The signing of an additional Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Russian partner Kamaz has prompted Daimler to quip that the partnership is “all milk and honey” after last week’s signing. In the new deal, Daimler will supply axles for the trucks produced by the Mercedes-Benz Trucks Vostok joint venture. Daimler will also supply axles as well as components for non-drive front axle systems and one- and two-stage rear drive axle systems. Daimler Trucks recovering from 2009 economic turmoil

If you think big time premium vehicle manufacturers such as Daimler and Mercedes-Benz couldn’t possibly be affected by economic downturns, think again. Nothing can be farther from the truth, especially during the later half of 2009 when Daimler Trucks had their greatest fallback. During that period of slow growth, however, the Chinese market kept resiliently alive. Of course, things have changed ever since the new year came.
