Daimler accidentally leaks Google Projected Mode

When Internet companies’ upcoming products get leaked, it’s usually through tech blogs, insiders, or marketing ploys intended to drum up interest. This time, though, a job advertisement from a partner is the culprit, as Daimler, the parent company of German automaker Mercedes-Benz, unwittingly leaked Google’s “Projected Mode” via a job posting on its web site, which to our knowledge has since been amended. There really isn’t much that can be learned about this new Google software or technology, especially coming from a vague passage within a job ad. Merc to Discuss mbrace2 Updates at Telematics Detroit

The mbrace2 platform represents the technological aptitude of Mercedes-Benz, bringing together various aspects of the driving experience such as infotainment, safety, and personal assistance in a single hub. FleetBoard Telematic System Allows Remote Vehicle Monitoring

Fleet management just became handier, literally, with Daimler’s release of the FleetBoard telematics system.  With such a system, operators can monitor how their vehicles are being used, how many hours the drivers have been at the wheel, their buses’ fuel consumption and the drivers’ driving habits, which affect fuel consumption. It’s even possible to show the status of doors and loading ramps.  This app, currently available for free, has been written for use with the iPhone or iPad devices.
