Mercedes-Benz Given Quality Trophy 2012 by Auto Zeitung Magazine

The many readers of Germany’s “Auto Zeitung” (which translates to Automobile Newspaper) magazine must love Mercedes-Benz, as they voted the SLS AMG Roadster as the best cabriolet and the SLS AMG Coupe as the best super sports car in the magazine’s polls. With those two citations in the bag, Mercedes-Benz was also awarded the Quality Trophy 2012 by the magazine. Over 110,000 readers voted on the poll, which was being held for the 25th year. The poll’s aim is to rank the year’s top cars. Last year, the two aforementioned cars also took home the victories in their respective categories. The SLS AMG Roadster made it to the Guinness World Record

What happens if David Coulthard, an F1 legend, rides the 571hp SLS AMG Roadster? Well, it surely is record-breaking. Mercedes-Benz UK organized an event to get a Guinness World Record of the ‘farthest golf shot to be caught in a moving car”, and they succeeded. When professional golf player Jake Shepherd made the ball fly at 178mph, it was caught by the Mercedes car rolling at 120mph. Golf Ball Caught on Moving SLS AMG, Mercedes-Benz Claims World Record

Here’s one Guinness world record you might not have heard about: the farthest golf ball shot caught by a man in a moving car. The feat was accomplished on an SLS AMG driven by David Coulthard, the former F1 competitor who is now driving for Mercedes-Benz’s Mucke Motorsport team in the 2012 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters championship. Pro golfer Jake Shepherd shot the golf ball through the air, clocked at a peak of 178 mph.
