Although the 2012 SLK is already a pretty nice car as it is, a little bit more is much better, when it comes to upgrades. In this vein, Vath has released its bodykit, performance and interior upgrade lines for the car. As you can see, the body mods include a new front lip and rear diffuser tied together by a lowered suspension riding on 20-inch wheels.  Interior upgrades aren’t as dramatic, with just some carbon fiber trim, new floor mats and aluminum pedals.

But the replacement speedometer hints at what the Vath-massaged SLK can offer the driver, as the upper reaches of the 205 mile per hour speedometer can be reached if the customer orders the stainless exhaust and ECU upgrades for the car. For the SLK 350, power is bumped to 330 horsepower, which is easily controlled by the addition of a limited slip diff and the big brake kit. The ECU upgrades also benefit the other engines, with the 200 CGI getting upgraded to 210 horsepower and the 250 CGI getting 240 plus hp.

“Golden Steering Wheel” Award won by M-Class and SLK

2012 Mercedes Benz ML Class “Golden Steering Wheel” Award won by M Class and SLKMercedes have won many awards for its different vehicles, but the company has had so much success in the Golden Steering Wheel awards, that in fact, the company has been in the all-time winners’ list. The three star brand has won a total of 21 times.

This year, Europe votes the SLK and the M-Class as the best in their categories after more than 260,000 readers of Auto Bild, Bild Am Sonntag and other European publications chose the vehicles.

Video Shows Development Of SLK 55 AMG Engine

Mercedes has released a video of their new M152 powerplant, which is a naturally-aspirated V8. Based on the twin-turbocharged M157 with which it shares the same displacement, the M152 produces 416 horsepower and a torque figure just shy of 400 pounds-foot.

This is the very engine that is in the newly introduced 2012 SLK 55 AMG. One notable feature of this engine is its non-V8 fuel consumption characteristics. It’s because of AMG Cylinder Management, which can disengage half of the V8’s cylinders. By employing this system, the driver can see gains of up to 30 percent in fuel economy, which would give it a consumption figure of 8.5 liters per 100 kilometers. Pretty good for an 8-cylinder sports car. Despite this significant gain in fuel economy, the SLK 55’s engine can still produce 170 lb-ft of torque in 4-cylinder mode, which should be good enough to motoring around in the urban environment or tooling around on a lazy Sunday drive.
