The guys over at Automobile Magazine have managed to get a hold of the new Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series. Before taking it out for a test drive, they decidied to put it onto a dyno and see if Mercedes delivered what they promised. On paper, Mercedes claimse the Black Series will do 670 hp and 738 lb-ft with the V12 twin-turbo monster. The Automobile Mag guys achieved 573 hp @ 5300 rpm and 682 lb-ft @ 3620 rpm in third gear. The new-generation Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster has won the Internet Auto Award 2008. Voted top in the Convertibles & Roadsters category, it received the prestigious CAROLINA award. This year again over 300,000 people cast their votes in Europe’s largest Internet public award. 154 vehicles in nine categories were judged by Internet users of AutoScout24 throughout Europe. From a line-up totalling 18 high-quality convertibles and roadsters competing for the award, they voted the Mercedes-Benz SL as their favourite.
Similar to Kleemann and their debut of their tuned CLK Black Series, Lorinser will introduce their version of the updated SL at the Automechanika in Frankfurt from September 16th to the 21st. Besides the above teaser image, little detail is know. Lorinser is promising a top speed of 300km/h (186mph) with their L 55 RS based on the current CL version. We’ll make sure update you on Lorinser SL monster once it debuts in Frankfurt.

Since spring of 2008, the new generation SL-Class has been carrying on the brand’s unparalleled sports car tradition, which began in 1954 with the legendary “gull-wing” 300 SL.
