Nico Rosberg won the 2016 Singapore GP, finally retaking the lead in the drivers’ championship race. With six races left this season, Rosberg has snagged the momentum from teammate Lewis Hamilton. The win is Rosberg’s third in a row, after also winning in Belgium and in Italy. Hamilton, meanwhile, managed to finish in third place behind Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo. The Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team finds itself in unfamiliar territory after Ferrari and Red Bull made their marks in qualifying for the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix held in the city-state’s Marina Bay Street Circuit. Lewis Hamilton, who had gotten used to getting pole positions this year, had to settle for P5 when the night race starts tomorrow. P6 went to Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg. Lewis Hamilton took another pole position at the qualifying session for the 2014 Singapore Grand Prix, clinching his sixth pole of the season and giving Mercedes AMG Petronas its 13th pole in 14 races so far. Joining the Brit on the front row once the race starts tonight is Nico Rosberg, whose qualifying time was only 0.007 seconds short of Hamilton’s. Getting pole position is always a great thing, although it is not a guarantee for victory.
