Renault-Nissan to Supply Engines for Merc A- and B-Class

There have already been reports that AMG power plants will be used by a future crop of vehicles in Renault-Nissan’s Infinity Performance Line, but apparently the alliance between Renault-Nissan and Daimler isn’t just a one-sided affair. There have been indications that Renault-Nissan will be supplying engines for Merc’s next-gen A-Class and B-Class models. Some French sources have let slip that the new Renault-Nissan 1.6L turbodiesel engine rated at 128 brake horsepower will be headed to the aforementioned Mercedes-Benz models as early as next year. Aside from the crossover of engines and vehicle models, the automakers are also working on some new three-cylinder and four-cylinder engines that can be used for… Continue Reading »

Daimler Teams Up With Renault-Nissan To Produce Electric Vehicles

Daimler is geared at amplifying its partnership with Renault-Nissan by including electric vehicles in its line. According Thomas Weber, the company’s R&D chief, the team-up will be expanded to include all the three partners with regards to the manufacturing of electric motors, batteries and engines. The three companies are enthusiastic to invest in the electric car technology as classifications are becoming more strictly regulated. Webber added that due to the present technology restrictions, producing these vehicles will not profit the companies unless they attain economies of scale. Also, on their own, they could produce up to a maximum of 500,000 engines. But their partnership with Renault, they can achieve to… Continue Reading »

XOXO: Infiniti M and G to receive platform donation from Mercedes-Benz E-Class

So far, the partnership between Daimler AG and Renault-Nissan has only been able to spark rumors. The deal is to share their technology and resources to make cost-effective changes to their business. It also involves allowing each other to penetrate otherwise inaccessible markets in their respective dominions. Sounds like a match made in heaven, doesn’t it? We’ll see. Right now, the latest hearsay is that the Infinit M and G will be sharing platforms with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Well, that’s a heavy statement, and needs hard evidence. If it were true, then Infinit is looking at hundreds of millions of dough saved from developing their own platform. Daimler, on the… Continue Reading »

Infiniti to create smaller, MB-powered crossover?

Partnerships are made to be broken. Or are they? Hopefully not for Daimler AG and Renault-Nissan, because there are rumors circulating that Infiniti is planning to cash in on a new DX CUV model that will take cues from the Mercedes-Benz A and B Classes. These rumors were originally in French from the L’Automobile Magazine and should prove to be quite substantial since Renault is based in France. Still, it’s a long shot for Nissan which is planning to bout with key players BMW X1 and Audi Q3, as well as Mercedes-Benz’s own C-Class Estate. These are still rumors, anyway, so there’s yet no reason to believe that Infiniti’s EX… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz’s four pots to empower future Infiniti G models

One way to keep your business growing is to enter deals with larger companies. That’s exactly what Renault-Nissan has done by deciding to ride along with Daimler AG. A big chunk of their deal is sharing of each other’s resources. In the automotive industry, that mainly refers to engines, hopefully. It happens everywhere, even in the pinnacle of motorsports, Formula One. For Renault-Nissan, it’s realizing a dream. Despite whatever price they have to pay, Nissan’s, or rather, Infiniti’s G-range models will soon be boasting four bangers made by none other than Mercedes-Benz. Yes, folks, its German engineering at its finest, straight from Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn’s mouth. This is, of… Continue Reading »
