Pit26 Turns the Mercedes-AMG G63 Into A Pickup Truck

Gone is the much coveted Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 but many tuners continue to mimic the bygone pickup truck. Recently, Pit26 Motorsports unveiled its new G-Wagen creation that reminds us of the mentioned pickup, except, of course, the extra axle. The tuner’s latest tuning package is compatible with the 2019 to 2023 model years of the G550 and AMG G63. With prices starting at $385,000 this may serve as a nice alternative to the pricier G63 AMG 6×6 with over half-a-million original price tag and over a million price in auctions now. This also provides access to those who are yearning for the pickup variants of the G-Class. Pit26 makes… Continue Reading »

Behold the Almighty Mercedes-Benz X-Class 6×6 Pickup!

Half a decade ago, fans bid farewell to the limited production Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6, but it still remains as one of the most-coveted gems of the past as you are even lucky if you find one with a $900,000 price tag. Taking a page from the six-wheeled G-Class, one tuner turned the limited-run luxury pickup truck of the three-pointed star marque into a Mercedes-Benz X-Class 6×6. The six-wheeler X-Class was just sold by Dutch car auction site Classic Youngtimers Consultancy. According to the seller, the auto is based on the X350d trim of the Mercedes pickup. The auto retains its 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 engine with 254 hp. The X350d… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Given a Cosmetic and Performance Makeover

When the Mercedes-Benz X-Class was announced in 2015, everyone had high hopes in it, including yours truly. A year later, its concept was unveiled, which held a lot of promises. When its production version was finally unveiled though, it was a letdown for many because it didn’t stand out much from the Nissan Navara, which it shares a platform with and around 30% more affordable than the luxury pickup. We were still optimistic about it but before its promised higher-end trims were released, the product was axed from Mercedes’ production line. Despite its disappointing reviews and Daimler’s decision to end its production, the X-Class remained as a darling among tuners—probably… Continue Reading »

Mansory Makes Star Trooper Pickup Based on Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Last year, Mansory with the help of German fashion designer Phillip Plein made the Star Trooper based on the Mercedes-AMG G63 20th Anniversary Edition. The sport utility vehicle takes a camouflaged finish with extensive upgrades in styling and a boost in performance. Fast-forward to the present, the Star Trooper is making a comeback in a limited edition, two-door pickup truck form. It’s not clear what version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class was used as a platform for the two-door Star Trooper pickup. Mansory likely made a massive overhaul to the present G-Class by cutting its rear passenger section and converting it into a pickup bed, or it simply used the older… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz X-Class to be Axed from the Production Line

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class received a warm welcome when it was introduced, and we certainly had high hopes with it. In its bid to tap into the pickup truck segment of the market, its maker even expanded the range to include a more powerful model equipped with a V6 engine. Despite the best efforts of Mercedes, the demand for the auto proved to be weak, and that puts its future into question. According to Automotive News Europe, only 16,700 units of the X-Class were sold in Europe, Australia, and South Africa. The source said that it was below the expectations set by Mercedes’ parent, Daimler. It also failed to generate enough… Continue Reading »

Meet the Gruma Hunter Based on the Mercedes-Benz X-Class

Gruma Automobile recently unveiled its modified Mercedes-Benz X-Class called the “Gruma Hunter”. As the vehicle’s name says, it was made to cater to the needs of professional and leisure hunters. Gruma is an aftermarket shop that specializes in customizing Mercedes vehicles. So when its specialists got their hands on the X-Class, they did a great job in improving the design, particularly the utility, of the pickup. First, Gruma gave the X-Class a dark matte jungle green wrap. The color looks a bit like the one used on the Mercedes-AMG GT R, also referred to as the “Beast of Green Hell”, with just a darker hue. The shop chose the theme… Continue Reading »
