Daimler, Renault Working on New Large Van?

According to a report on Bloomberg, Daimler is in talks with Renault on a possible cooperation for a new large van model, yet another instance of the existing pact between the two automakers. A Daimler spokeswoman, Uta Leitner, has confirmed from Stuttgart that there are discussions with Renault, but that these are “early talks.” Raluca Barb, speaking for Renault, has also confirmed that there have been talks, and she added that there are still decisions to make, particularly where production sites are concerned. Google and Daimler Extend Partnership

At the Consumer Electronics Show being held at Las Vegas, Daimler and Google announced a further strategic partnership to provide Daimler with ready access to its Google Maps API for Business. These Application Programming Interfaces are used for cloud-based, map-related applications, which Daimler vehicles will use. The partnership also provides for early access to other new APIs as they are developed. The collaboration will enable Daimler to use Google Maps for their in-car map displays, and significantly improve their ability to quickly and seamlessly integrate useful Google services into Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles. Daimler-Kamaz Launch Russia Only Truck

At the Comtrans show held in Moscow, Daimler and Kamaz proudly presented the latest offspring of their commercial partnership. A new Kamaz truck containing a significant number of Daimler components will be marketed as a Russia-only offering. Aside from the axle manufacturing joint venture inked last year, Daimler and Kamaz will also be undertaking the manufacture of truck cabs. Price disagreement derails Daimler-RR takeover of Tognum

A lot of people in the automotive industry considered this partnership as being the deal of the century. Tognum’s supposed takeover by German automotive manufacturing giant Daimler AG in partnership with Rolls Royce was derailed by an unexpected message from the fellow German company over the weekend. Daimler shares that the duo is planning to extend almost 24 euro for each share of Tognum’s stocks, an amount that is actually already 30 percent higher than Tognum’s closing price in XETRA on March 4, exactly one day before they publicly announced the planned takeover. Daimler and Bosch to build electric motors under partnership

Daimler AG recently announced its move towards partnering with another German company, Robert Bosch GmbH, for a joint project in designing electric motors for the car manufacturer’s planned line of all-electric vehicles. Both companies have signed respective letters of intent for a joint partnership and are now in the midst of discussions aiming to create 50:50 sharing of all products and services that shall result from the project.
