CLS crashes during testing

Despite the majestic 2012 Mercedes-Benz being released to the public only recently at its world debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, there’s already news of it being involved in a crash, courtesy of MotorAuthority.com. The uneventful crash takes place in the Green Hell, a.k.a. Nurburgring, the infamous race track in Germany where so many crashes have occurred, whether during racing, or merely testing. In fact, it’s the favored spot of car engineers especially during final testing phases. If you look at the photos, it seems that there is minimum damage. Fortunately, this one’s a test mule, so the engineers probably don’t mind as long as they get the data… Continue Reading »

Spy Photo: 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class At The Ring

Mercedes has released statement that the latest C-Class Coupe is geared to join its vehicle range when the C-Class is presented for its mid-cycle update in 2011. The latest photo at the Nurburgring in Germany shows that its testing phase is in its last stages. The current rendering presents a look at the would-be styling for the latest coupe, but photos of what is perceived to be a bright-orange crash-test coupe, spied a couple of months ago, shows few differences. One of the most substantial change is the up-kicked line at the base of the C-pillar, a slight difference in contrast to the sharp corners of Mercedes’ other new coupes…. Continue Reading »

In fact, it’s heartbreaking to see something so full of potential screwing up on the track at high speed. You can’t help but blame the driver, especially once you’re caught in fascination by the GT3’s unique beauty and finesse. Frikadella’s onboard camera caught the action while rolling on their Porsche racecar behind the GT3. The Gullwing was being driven by five-time DTM champion-now AMG brand ambassador Bernd Schneider when it crashed into Christian Hohenadel’s Corvette on the very first… Continue Reading »

Pagani Zonda R is the New Nurburgring God

The Nurburgring is so amazing that it has become the epicenter of ‘ego battle’ between carmakers that aim at performance. A huge number of vehicles target to get ahead of the Nordschelife record lap time for their specific category. The German tarmac has a capacity to serve far more than its original testing and racing purposes. These vehicles and competitions have transformed as a great instrument for marketing. Sites like Nurburgring, even attract attention of spy photographers and have turned out to be one of their hot spots. The main motive for a grand gamut of go-fast vehicles is not only to obliterate the ring record but to beat it… Continue Reading »
