[F1] Nico Rosberg Wins British Grand Prix for Mercedes, Hamilton P4

It was an important race for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team, and Nico Rosberg helped ensure that they would finish in style. Rosberg overcame some pretty dangerous situations on the track to take the win at the 2013 British Grand Prix. This is the second win in three races for the German driver. Meanwhile, teammate Lewis Hamilton could not hang on to his pole position after a rear tire explosion. Despite the problems, Hamilton managed to recover enough to finish in P4, salvaging some valuable championship points despite not being able to finish on the podium even when he thought the team was certainly on track and in great… Continue Reading »

[F1] Canadian GP: Hamilton with Podium Finish Behind Vettel and Alonso; Rosberg P5

Nobody was able to provide a challenge for Sebastian Vettel at the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix, so Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton had to settle for the battle for second place. He lost that, too, but at least managed to get his third podium finish in the last seven races. Hamilton said that his car ‘felt fantastic’ but lamented the lack of pace compared to Vettel and Alonso. “I was on the maximum that I could possibly drive and we got absolutely everything out of the car today,” said the Brit. “It would have been nice to have kept second place, of course, but Fernando was very quick today and… Continue Reading »

[F1] Canadian GP: Hamilton in Front Row, Rosberg Starts P4

During rain-soaked qualifying, Lewis Hamilton had a chance to take pole position for Mercedes AMG Petronas, but had to settle for P2 alongside Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. It’s the first time in four races that the Brit managed to out-qualify teammate Nico Rosberg, who settled for P4 behind the surprising P3 of Valtteri Bottas of Williams F1. With conditions deteriorating in Q2 so much that there was a red-flag incident involving Felipe Massa, Hamilton was able to pace the pack with 1:27.649. Hamilton clocked at 1:25.512, with a critical miss in the turn-in right into the last corner that cost him pole position. Hamilton liked the front row start, but… Continue Reading »

Hamilton in Great Condition for the Canadian Grand Prix

After an amazing run in the Monaco Grand Prix with Nico Rosberg bagging the victory, Lewis Hamilton believes that the Mercedes Team can do it again in the Canadian circuit. BBC Sport pointed out that Rosberg only won the Monaco race because he was able to control the pace. However, with the track in Canada, wherein overtaking is easier, it will be hard to get on top of the other teams. Despite the view of BBC, Hamilton said that based on their improvements lately, especially with the tyres, they will be able to overcome the track in Canada. According to the news source, Hamilton actually won three races in Canada…. Continue Reading »

Before the 24-hour Nurburgring event last weekend, Mercedes-Benz put on an awesome demonstration of what their Formula One car is capable of. The variants included were the A45 AMG, E63 AMG 4Matic, SLS AMG Black Series and SLS AMG GT3. On the helm of the AMG cars were Bernd Maylander, Karl Wendlinger, Nico Rosberg and Bernd Schneider, respectively. The AMGs went on different times and Schumacher started more than a minute after the last car. But near the end of the lap, the F1 car overtook the others… Continue Reading »

Button Says Even without the Controversial Tire Test, Mercedes Would Still Win

Jenson Button was positive that the controversial “secret testing” of Mercedes-Benz has nothing to do with the team’s win when Nico Rosberg bagged the win in the recent Monaco Grand Prix. In the report of NBC Sports, Button said that the team did a great job. He added that even without the heavily talked about tire test, they would still have won the race. In his statement, he speculated that the other teams that protested only wanted clarification because they only wanted to have their own 1,000km run to understand the new tires. The Mercedes and Pirelli Side On the part of Mercedes and Pirelli, both companies have stood firm… Continue Reading »

[F1] Rosberg Wins 2013 Monaco Grand Prix!

Finally, the Mercedes F1 team was able to win a race in the 2013 Formula One season. Nico Rosberg claimed the win at the Monaco Grand Prix from pole position, giving Mercedes AMG Petronas its first win of the season. Incidentally, it’s been 30 years since his father was also able to win in Monte Carlo. Rosberg crossed the chequered flag 3.8 seconds ahead of Sebastian Vettel. Rosberg dominated the free practices, took pole position in convincing fashion, and went all the way to win the race proper. Keke Rosberg, Nico’s father, won the 1983 Monaco GP. Teammate Lewis Hamilton, who started from P2, managed to finish in fourth place. He… Continue Reading »
