Mercedes-Benz Sponsors the Mille Miglia 2016

Mercedes-Benz announced, through the Daimler Global Media Site that it will be sponsoring the Mille Miglia this year. The event will also highlight the best classic cars of the brand. The Mille Miglia 2016 will be held on May 19 to 22. The event will run from Brescia and Rome. The history of the Mille Miglia event and Mercedes-Benz come a long way. It should be noted that the endurance race produced historic moments in the colorful past of the three-pointed star brand such as when Rudolf Caracciola and Wilhelm Sebastian won the event in 1931 using a Mercedes-Benz SSKL. Mercedes-Benz Becomes Main Automotive Sponsor for Mille Miglia Event

In order to establish a “long-term collaboration,” Mercedes-benz Classic and 1000 Miglia S.R.L., the entity behind Mille Miglia endurance race, have struck a partnership that will see Mercedes-Benz become the main automotive sponsor for the event. As expected because of the company’s extensive participation in the event throughout its history, Mercedes-Benz will be fielding a number of vehicles in this year’s iteration of the Mille Miglia. Some Mercedes-Benz brand ambassadors will also be present and will participate, including former F1 drivers David Coulthard, Karl Wendlinger, and Jochen Mass. Mercedes-Benz Museum Holds Mille Miglia Exhibition

Fans of the Mille Miglia race are about to get a treat as the Mercedes-Benz Museum is showcasing the “Mille Miglia – Passion and Rivalry” exhibition. The exhibition started October 10 and is set to run all the way through January 6, 2013. The exhibition is made possible through the cooperation of the Museo Mille Miglia. It features nine vehicles (from Mercedes and from competitors as well) that have participated in the 1,000-mile race previously. Aside from vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz SSK, Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, and Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, the vehicle showcase also includes legendary cars from Alfa Romea, Ferrari, and Lancia. Mercedes-Benz Headlines 2012 Mille Miglia

A group of 25 SLR. CLUB members, all with their precious SLR vehicles, took the road on May 16th to participate in the Mille Miglia in Rome, which covers a specified route starting from Brescia then Rome then back to the start to cover 1,000 miles (hence the name). The Mille Miglia is a traditional Italian race from way back in 1927. It was held annually until 1957 and then resurfaced in 1977.
