I-Limb Pulse Project by Mercedes GP Petronas and Touch Bionics

One day in the life of Mercedes GP Petronas’ boss Ross Brawn, a letter came to him with one of the most touching story. A young man braved to ask for $57,000 from him so that he could have a high-tech artificial limb. That young man is Matthew James. He is a fourteen year-old British who was born with a congenital defect which made him live without a limb for years. Although he was using an artificial limb already, the young man really wanted to be able to do more than closing and opening his ‘hand’. Being a teenager, he really wanted to move normally, like other kids his age…. Continue Reading »

Mercedes GP Petronas Finishes Fifth, Eighth at Chinese Grand Prix

Nico Rosberg rode momentum from his strong finish at the previous race by getting fifth place at the just-concluded Chinese Grand Prix, and Michael Schumacher was able to finish in the points at eight place. McLaren-Mercedes also posted an incredible victory with Lewis Hamilton leading the charge, and teammate Jenson Button was at fourth place behind the Red Bulls of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. It was also nice seeing Michael Schumacher battle it out with Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso around laps 24 and 25—arguably two of the top 5 racers in the past two decades. Of course, Alonso managed to squeeze past Schumi on a corner to slip into third… Continue Reading »

Norbert Haug: W02 won’t Crack F1 Top 10 Just Yet

Nico Rosberg, in the new Mercedes GP Petronas W02 race car, emerged as the time leader in last Sunday’s F1 test session at the Circuit de Catalunya. However, Merc’s motorsport director doesn’t think that the vehicle is quite there yet. Norbert Haug expressed in an interview mere hours before the great run by Rosberg that the car isn’t in the kind of shape needed for a Top 10 finish in a race. “If there was a race today, we would not be in the Top 10,” came the bold statement from Haug. Of course, adjustments and developments had been factored in for Sunday’s run, hence the spectacular finish by the… Continue Reading »

Schumi finishes fourth in first-ever Korean GP

For the first time in this year’s grand prix season, seven time world champion Michael Schumacher was able to outdo not only his wingman but himself as well by taking fourth place in this sport’s first ever Korean Grand Prix held in Yeongam. It was a race full of drama and excitement as the safety car made a couple of appearances to keep the event from turning into a wet nightmare. The race began with the safety car limiting the race cars until the wet spell calmed down for a decent race. However, the safety car had to reappear when the red flag was raised on the third lap, giving… Continue Reading »

Schumi finishes sixth in Japan GP

What a surprise comeback from Michael Schumacher! For one of the rare times, the seven-time world champion has managed to beat his wingman to the finish. He gained major points after his good start from the tenth position on the grid. A good, strong race plus an exhilarating battle with Nico Rosberg and Schumi produces better results since his much-hyped up comeback. What could have been a double-points finish for Mercedes GP was foiled because of an unfortunate accident forcing Nico to quit and not finish the race during the 48th lap. Nico was in sixth place at that point, a position Schumi happily took over from his retired wingman…. Continue Reading »

Brawn confident on Schumi’s return next season

Despite having individual winning elements—seven time world champion Michael Schumacher, constructor’s champion Brawn GP, technical genius Ross Brawn, and factory support of German premium car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, the Mercedes GP Petronas team still falls short of coming up with a winning formula for this season’s Grand Prix. It’s no secret that Schumi’s comeback wasn’t quite as strong as expected. He’s tenth overall right now in the Driver’s Championship standings with a mere 46-point tally. This leads fans to speculate as to whether he will be back for 2011, or let alone finish off the season’s remaining grand prix races. According to Ross Brawn, however, Schumi will in fact stay for… Continue Reading »
