Mercedes-Benz USA Gets Record Sales Figures for Q1

Backed by solid March numbers and riding continued success to start 2013, Mercedes-Benz USA reported that its Q1 sales figures are the highest in its history. The German automaker sold a total of 69,187 vehicles (cars plus trucks) during the first quarter of the year, which is up 12.5% over the same period in 2012. “We’re coming out of our highest first quarter on record—and that’s before launching a single new product,” said Mercedes-Benz USA CEO Steve Cannon. The company sold a total of 24,646 vehicles in March, which represents a 6.5% increase over the same month last year. Mercedes-Benz USA Donates $1 Million for Hurricane Sandy Relief

In the aftermath of the megastorm Hurricane Sandy’s rampage throughout the east coast of the United States, Mercedes-Benz USA is donating $1 million to the American Red Cross to aid in the relief efforts in the disaster-affected areas. “The devastation that Hurricane Sandy left behind will be felt for a long time in the communities in which we live and work,” said MBUSA President and CEO Steve Cannon. “It’s our hope that this donation can provide some small measure of relief for the families and businesses affected as the recovery and rebuilding begins.” MBUSA’s HQ is located in Montvale, New Jersey, one of the states in the path of Hurricane… Continue Reading »

Selection Of New MBUSA Head Down To a Handful

As easily as the former head of Mercedes-Benz’s US head was removed, his replacement hasn’t been announced yet. Not that there aren’t qualified candidates who can’t fill that position. However, despite former CEO Lieb’s transgressions, the fact is that Mercedes-Benz USA performed reasonably well under his stewardship. And apparently, he was well regarded and appreciated by the dealer network. But now, the final candidates have reportedly been narrowed down to five serious contenders who have top-level responsibilities in countries as diverse as China, Canada, Turkey, England and Australia. Mercedes To Appoint New US Head In The Coming Days

On the heels of its dismissal of the former head of its US operations, Mercedes has announced that it will be appointing Ernst Lieb’s replacement in the coming days. Aside from this short announcement, not much else has been released by the company regarding the surprising turn of events. There is also no word on whether the replacement CEO will come from the company’s headquarters in Germany.
