New plant in India to make high-end city buses

Ever been to India? It’s a beautiful country with a beautiful mixture of British and Indian cultures. And now, with Mercedes-Benz entering the foray, it’s even more astounding. Mercedes-Benz India recently started constructing a new facility to house body manufacturing of its city buses. What used to be a foundation plant in Chakan, whose founder is none other than Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and Chief Executive Office Wilfred Aulbur, will now be assisted in the production of city buses by this new facility in Pune. Mercedes-Benz India to introduce new models amidst market growth

It’s all in the name of sales. Mercedes-Benz in India is determined to stay ahead of the pack, and its plan of action is introduce even more models into their showrooms to attract more clients. They’re also planning on having 2nd shifts and maintain brand spending to get a bigger share of an already expanding Indian market. Analysts forecast around 50 percent of market growth this year. In 2009, Mercedes-Benz’s Proven Exclusivity Program was launched, allowing both fans and clients to get their hands on quality, pre-owned vehicles. The program since then has been a big success, and has now found its way in Asia under Mercedes-Benz India. According to Managing Director and CEO for India Wilfried Aulbur, the program is targeted toward potential Mercedes-Benz buyers who are looking to own for the first time a premium car. 250 engineers needed for Bangalore R&D center

Looking for work? Then maybe you’re interested in knowing about Daimler Group’s plans to hire around 250 engineers for their research and development center in Bangalore. The move is aimed to improve the Mercedes-Benz global facility to support their global development center back in their home country Germany. Mercedes-Benz India General Manager Prakash Vermali says that by the end of 2010, the R&D center should house around 650 engineers total during a SIAM summit held in New Delhi.
