Fast Forward to Tomorrow campaign kicks off

Mercedes-Benz launches yet another company, this time focusing on the company’s achievements in its bid for zero emissions. Running under the slogan “Fast forward to tomorrow”, the company seeks to show through all media channels—TV, online specials and ads—how far they’ve come in achieving their goals. BlueEFFICIENCY, which later developed into various versions such as BlueTEC for diesel engines and BlueDIRECT for petrol engines, is just one of the company’s groundbreaking innovations. Dollar for dollar, the S400 Hybrid offers the best value among hybrids

The Toyota Prius ain’t fairing quite well in its bid to be the best hybrid ever. In fact, it’s doing bad in terms of paying back through fuel savings what you spent for its battery and electric motor. It looks like Toyota still has a long way to go before achieving par excellence in the realm of hybridization. For Mercedes-Benz, however, it’s an entirely different story. That begs the question of how an $88,000 premium car packing a 15kW electric motor best the $22-30,000 Prius? Yes, the Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid costs around four times the price tag of a Prius. However, it pays its dues by saving you enough fuel… Continue Reading »

Orders keep coming for low emission trucks and buses at Daimler Trucks North America and Daimler Buses. Around 130 compressed natural gas (CNG) school buses were ordered from Thomas Built Buses—Daimler Truck North America’s school bus manufacturer—alone. That figure is actually the biggest ever purchase of CNG buses for Daimler. You might be wondering who purchased such a huge order. The answer to that is the Los Angeles Unified School District. The CNG buses should be all be delivered by the fourth quarter of this year. It leaves little surprise that the transportation services division of LAUSD only entertains bidding for buses that run on alternative fuel sources. Right now,… Continue Reading »
