Magdalena Dietz, 29, entrepreneur and PR consultant, today received the key to her new Mercedes-Benz GLK from Bremen plant manager Peter Schabert. Ms. Dietz is the first customer to take delivery of a vehicle of the entirely new GLK-Class following its market launch. The handover – of a GLK 320 CDI 4MATIC in metallic tenorite gray with numerous optional equipment features – took place in the Customer Center of the Bremen plant.
During the run-up to the model’s market launch in October 2008, Mercedes-Benz is expanding its comprehensive marketing campaign for the GLK-Class to include print advertisements and television commercials. “Our print campaign and the TV spot focus on the typical characteristics of the GLK â€” the striking form and surprisingly different design,” says Dr. Olaf Gà¶ttgens, Vice President Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars. “With the GLK we are providing a new opportunity for customers to enter the SUV world of our brand. And for the launch of this vehicle we have used every communication channel in order to come into direct dialogue with our customers and, in particular, young target groups.”
The market launch and showroom debut for new GLK-Class is scheduled to be in January of 2009, so Mercedes has decided to also launch the GLK-Class Selection, which is a range of products whose distinctive design, high-quality, robust materials that underline the versatile personality of the compact Sports Utility Vehicle. The specially selected range includes casual leisurewear for the fashion-conscious, attractive accessories for outdoor activities and elegant items for shopping excursions to the city. In preparation for the SEMA show in Las Vegas, Mercedes may have contracted RENNtech for some “fine” tuning of their new GLK model. We are still not sure what exactly they will do to the GLK, but according to Modified Luxury & Exotics, it will be a Pikes Peak inspired GLK. This will be RENNtech’s first ever performance modified hybrid powertrain.
