RENNTECH is celebrating its 20 years of tuning excellence with a series of extremely limited-production vehicles. Similar to what they have done to the limited edition SLR 777, they created a concept design of what the G-Class will look like. It will be powered by CDI Diesel engine and produce almost 400 lb-ft of torque. Just like with their GLK Rally concept and the SLR 777, Platune Design came up with the illustration and conceptual design. We’re looking forward to learning more about the G Concept and hopefully seeing some real pictures soon.

The Mercedes-Benz G was first introduced to the press from February 5 – 10, 1979. Its distinctive design, largely unchanged in thirty years, and its outstanding engineering have long since elevated the cross-country vehicle to cult status and made it one of the most coveted vehicles in the automobile market.

Development of the cross-country vehicle commenced in 1972 with a joint venture agreement between Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch, based in the Austrian city of Graz. In 1975 the decision was taken to launch the series and build a new plant for it in Graz, where the G is still mostly made by hand even today.

Top 10 Cars Driven Mostly by Men

maybach 62s Top 10 Cars Driven Mostly by Men
In a recent study, conducted by CNW Marketing Reserach for Forbes, they found that the Maybach was the car brand most driven by men. Mercedes picked up three spots on the list, with the Maybach (both 57 and 62), the GL-Class, and the G-Class. One reason that the Maybach came on top and with such a wide margin is probably due to the fact that only 156 were sold in the US last year, and with a price tag of a 4 bedroom home, a female (and probably more rational person) won’t be enticed by such a luxurious vehicle.

1. Maybach 57 and 62 – 95% male drivers
2. Mercedes-Benz GL-Class – 90.47%
3. Lamborghini – 90.32%
4. Rolls-Royce Phantom – 90%
5. Dodge Viper – 89.87%
6. Mercedes-Benz G-Class – 88.84%
7. Ferrari – 85.82%
8. Cadillac Escalade ESV – 85.13%
9. BMW 6 Series – 81.71%
10. Aston Martin – 81.25%
