Mercedes-Benz Plans Four New Electric Models

With Tesla Motors’ major success in the production of electric sedans, many other automakers are following its footsteps now. Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are certainly not backing out from the challenge posted by the American electric car maker. According to the British publication CAR, Mercedes-Benz is preparing four products that it will pit head-to-head against the Tesla sedans. New Electric Vehicle Platform Being Developed By Mercedes-Benz

It appears Mercedes-Benz is working on a new platform for an electric vehicle that will be used on four upcoming models, as shown on a report from worldcarfans.com. The platform will reportedly be dubbed as EVA and will be similar to the MRA architecture, which is currently being used on a number of models including the C-Class and the S-Class. Mercedes-Benz Enters a New Battleground in the US EV Market

Mercedes-Benz is gearing to introduce its first mass-produced pure electric vehicle in the U.S. According to Forbes, the flagship luxury vehicle brand of Daimler is looking for an end of June or early July release of the EV in the American soil. Car2Go program to expand starting with 60 additional charging stations

Stuttgart officials have officially announced the launch of Smart’s Car2Go program to be in 2012. The program will begin with 200 Smart electric drive vehicles to be stationed for operation in Mercedes-Benz’s home country, Germany. Word comes from Stuttgart’s Lord Mayor himself, Wolfgang Schuster, acknowledges the benefits that the program will nevertheless bring to the city. Daimler AG’s Car2Go program had already proved itself in test runs held in both Hamburg and Ulm in Germany.
