[DTM] Mercedes AMG Preps for Brands Hatch Weekend

After a solid opener at Hockenheimring, the Mercedes-Benz team is ready to get on with the second round of the 2013 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season at Brands Hatch, England, to be held this weekend. The 1.929 km Indy Circuit will be the eighth time DTM comes over to Brands Hatch. This makes it the shortest DTM track on the current calendar, and it features a top speed of 225kph or greater at the start/finish straight. The race is slated for 98 laps, which is the most in any race for the 2013 season. Last year’s race winner, Gary Paffett, is excited to defend the title for his home race. He… Continue Reading »

[DTM] Vietoris with Podium Finish, Paffett Fourth for Mercedes-Benz

While the team was not able to claim a win in the season-opening race at Hockenheim, Christian Vietoris and Gary Paffett ensured that the team would be off to a strong start. Vietories claimed his first DTM podium finish after coming in third behind race winner Augusto Farfus and second-placer Dirk Werner, while Gary Paffett crossed the finish line around three seconds later for fourth place. Vietoris, a member of the Junior Team currently competing for Mercedes-Benz in the 2013 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, was 9.675 seconds behind Farfus, who clocked 1:10:11.583. Christian Vietoris and Robert Wickens secured second-row starts for the season-opening race at Hockenheim, while five of the six drivers of the team managed to make it into the top ten. With Vietoris starting at P3, Wickens fourth, Gary Paffett at sixth, Pascal Wehrlein eighth, and Daniel Juncadella tenth, the Mercedes team is in strong position to get solid results this weekend. Moscow Race Debuts In DTM For 2013 Season

Now that the 2012 DTM season has been written into the record books, Mercedes’ DTM team is undoubtedly working hard to make sure that Mercedes dominates the 2013 series. Although the team led the series through most of the season, the final two races demonstrated how fortunes can change in racing. BMW, in its comeback campaign after a 20-year hiatus in DTM, manage to pip the championship from under the Mercedes team’s nose.  This is not to say that the final two seasons were all that decided the series. Rather, Mercedes’s consistency in all of its races allowed it to maintain a comfortable lead through most of the season. However,… Continue Reading »
