90s Mercedes DTM Technology More Like F1

In the 1990s, one of the premier motorsport series were the DTM races participated in by Opel, Alfa Romeo, Mercedes-Benz and eventually, BMW. At the time, the rules permitted a lot of technical innovation, which Mercedes and AMG wholly embraced in developing their DTM race cars. These technologies included active suspension, all-wheel drive, traction control, active aerodynamics, ABS and moveable ballast. And although engine displacements were limited to 2.5 litres, configurations allowed were any engines that were in production at the time. DTM 2012: Zandvoort Preview

There’s four more races left in the 2012 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season, and the whole Mercedes-Benz stable is gearing up to extend its lead in the three standings of DTM. Paffett Gets Podium Finish at Red Bull Ring

After duking it out for the top spot, Gary Paffett eventually settled for third place at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg—making it his fourth podium finish in as many races so far in the 2012 DTM season. Edoardo Mortara of Audi took the race win, with Martin Tomczyk of BMW at second. With the third-place finish, Paffett was still able to add to his points total for the season. His 83 points is 36 more than second-placer Mattias Ekstrom of Audi. The next race in the 2012 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season is Brands Hatch, considered the home race for HWA Team’s Gary Paffett. The New DTM Car to be Driven by Button at the Brands Hatch
