Daimler Trucks and Buses Chief Becomes ACEA CV Board Chairman

Daimler Board member in charge of Trucks and Buses, Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, has just been elected as the chairman of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA)’s Commercial Vehicle Board. According to Dr. Bernhard, the success and sustainability of commercial vehicle manufacturers depends on their ability to “jointly articulate and address our industry’s developments, progress, and demands, and make them known to political decision-makers.” That was part of the statement he gave at the last board meeting. Setra Gets its Largest Bus Order from Sweden

Daimler AG’s Sentra bus brand just secured its largest order from Sweden, with a total of 65 MultiClass 400 buses set to be delivered to the Kronoberg region to be used across four bus operators. The order will be fulfilled over 10 years, but the first buses are slated for delivery within this month. The buses will be used as school buses as well as for regular bus service within that Swedish region. The tender won by four operators will divide the 65 buses as follows: 50 will go to Karlssonbuss i Vaggeryd, including its subsidiaries. Two Setra ComfortClass 500 Coaches Delivered to Reimund Dirr

A couple of new Euro VI-compliant Setra ComfortClass 500 units were just delivered to Reimund Dirr, owner of a Bavarian coach operator that takes people across several destinations around Europe. Mercedes-Benz Buses Ordered For Brazil

Preparations are being made at the metropolitan areas in Brazil to deal with an expected increase in traffic volumes during the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup. In connection to this, a total of eighty Mercedes-Benz buses were ordered recently from Mercedes-Benz do Brazil. The buses will feature the Bluetec 5 technology, which is friendly to the environment. The buses also satisfy the PROCONVE P-7 standards for exhaust emissions. Sales of PROCONVE P-7 vehicles of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil surpassed the 5,200 unit level in 2012. Daimler Buses Provides Vehicles For Austrian Transport Company

The modernization program of ÖBB Postbus GmbH will concentrate on the acquisition of Setra and Mercedes-Benz vehicles. An agreement between ÖBB Postbus GmbH and Daimler Buses will see vehicles delivered to the company from 2013 to 2017. Although the exact number of buses was not revealed, it may reach up to around 400 units. Local public transportation systems are operated by ÖBB Postbus GmbH in Austria. 150 Mercedes-Benz and Setra Buses Ordered by Largest Bus Line in Germany

The orders just keep pouring in for Daimler Buses. The company has just received a big batch order from Germany’s largest bus service provider, DB Fleet Management GmbH for DB Regio bus, with a total of 150 units comprised of a mix of Mercedes-Benz and Setra branded buses for use in urban and regional transportation. To ensure a minimal environmental footprint, the buses will feature Mercedes-Benz’s BlueTec SCR technology. They will also meet the Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle (EEV) standard that’s known for being stricter than the Euro V emissions standard. SG’s SBS Transit Places Order for 450 Mercedes-Benz Citaro Buses

Singapore city bus operator SBS Transit just placed a massive order for 450 units of the Mercedes-Benz Citaro bus, easily standing as the biggest batch order in Asia for this series. This is actually the second wave of Citaro orders from the city-state bus operator. In April of 2011, SBS already purchased 300 units—and the order is set to be completed by Daimler Buses very soon. The new batch of orders will start delivery by fall of 2012 and is scheduled to be completed by late 2015.
