Daimler Trucks NA Delivers 1,000th Natural Gas Truck

Without much fanfare, Daimler Trucks in North America has been doing its share to promote fuel and emissions efficiency. It was only the announcement that the 1,000th Freightliner truck had been delivered that made us sit up and take notice. Notably, Daimler Trucks North America is the first commercial truck manufacturer to have been able to sustain such steady volume production. It’s indicative of the fact that the division’s customers have accepted natural gas as a viable and reliable substitute to the mainstream diesel fuel that normally powers such trucks. Would you buy a Natural Gas-Powered Mercedes-Benz B-Class?

While Mercedes-Benz has been working on bringing the B-Class to the U.S. market for over 3 years now, but the project was never realized. Mercedes-Benz may be stepping up efforts again with a new initiative – a natural gas-powered B-Class for the US consumers. They will be displaying a natural gas-powered vehicle at the Washington Auto Show this week. “We’re testing the market,” said William Craven, general manager of regulatory affairs for Daimler’s Washington, D.C. office.
